Happy Mat Yoga

Happy Mat Yoga I have been practicing yoga for 20 years. I love teaching and sharing my passion for yoga. giving clear instruction on alignment.

Calm, energise and Rebalance ✨🧘‍♀️🙏🧡

Happy Mat Yoga offers yoga classes at the Happy Mat Yoga Studio in Sutton Coldfield

UK and overseas retreats, and lots workshops designed to help you relax, strengthen, and reconnect. . 🧡 Although I have practiced yoga for 20 years due to work, life stuff and being a single mom, I had to have a break from my personal yoga practice. My Yoga journey started again 5 years ago and so with personal extensive studies, certification, and personal experiences it’s now that I feel inspired to teach as a professional. Yoga has greatly impacted my life and I love seeing the transformation it makes in the lives of people. I am passionate about teaching the science of yoga and the ancient wisdom through yoga classes,

I completed my Yoga Foundation Course with Sandstone Yoga Studio – Sutton Coldfield, I then went on to complete my 200 hrs Teacher Training. I am training in Hatha yoga however my personal practice included most styles, meditation, and pranayama. My classes offer a warm, happy environment, offering a supportive yoga practice. Yoga is your experience, totally unique to you. I honour this and I am grateful to offer space to guide you into your breath to expand, accept and release. I teach with my heart, intuition, and wisdom. I want to help others to feel more ease and fullness in the yoga postures so that they feel the benefits, have longevity in the practice and are inspired to share yoga with their friends and loved ones.

Your body often knows before your thoughts do.
A tightening in the jaw.
A sudden wave of heaviness.
A subtle urge to shrink yourself.

These aren’t flaws in your mindset.
They’re nervous system cues.
In yoga, we don’t force calm.
We create safety, and calm follows.

When you slow down enough to notice sensation, breath, posture, tone… something shifts.
Not because you controlled it.
But because your body felt heard.
This is how self-trust is rebuilt.
One moment of awareness at a time.

Yesterday I spent the day singing, healing and connecting in the most beautiful circle of women. ❤️🎼💫
And today, on International Women’s Day, it feels like the perfect reminder of how powerful it is when women come together. When we hold space for each other, support each other and allow our voices to be heard.

There is something incredibly special about women gathering in this way — sharing, healing, laughing and simply being together.

Thank you Sarah for creating and holding such a beautiful space, and thank you to every woman who was part of the circle. It truly felt like a gift to spend the day like this together.

My heart is full. 💛

After 12 months of study, practice, and deep listening, I’m so grateful to have completed my Diploma in Integral Sound Healing with Groups.

The training had given me a really deep, holistic perspective. I have learned how to connect not just with the instruments, but with the subtle energies of people—their physical, emotional, and even spiritual layers. It’s given me the tools to hold space for transformation—whether through the resonance of a crystal bowl or your intuition guiding someone’s journey. It’s deepened my understanding of how sound and vibration influence well-being—and how I can be a facilitator of that. Plus, its amplified my confidence in weaving all these elements into your classes and retreats.

But beyond the techniques and instruments, the most special part of this journey has been the people I’ve met along the way, teachers, fellow students, and a community who share the same passion for healing through sound.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this path.

I’m excited to keep weaving sound healing into the spaces I hold at Happy Mat Yoga.

This is just the beginning. ✨

✨ Yoga isn’t for you? Think again.

Chair Yoga is one of the most accessible and supportive ways to experience the benefits of yoga, without needing to get up and down from the floor.

This practice is gentle…
But don’t mistake gentle for ineffective. 💛
Through mindful movement, supported stretches, and simple breathwork, Chair Yoga helps
to:
🌿 Ease stiffness in the neck, shoulders & lower back
🌿 Improve circulation & joint mobility
🌿 Support balance and coordination
🌿 Calm the nervous system
🌿 Build strength, safely and steadily

It’s especially supportive if you:
• Sit for long periods
• Are returning to movement after a break
• Want a slower-paced class
• Have limited mobility or injuries
• Simply prefer a grounded, supported practice

We focus on what your body can do, not what it can’t.
There is no pressure. No pushing. Just steady, nourishing movement and breath.

You might be surprised how much freedom and strength you can build… all from a chair.

The three energies that move through us every day
In yoga philosophy, the Gunas describe the natural qualities of energy present in all of us.

They aren’t labels. They’re movements.
✨ TAMAS – the energy of stillness
When we feel heavy, tired, foggy, withdrawn.
Sometimes it’s stagnation.
Sometimes it’s the body asking for rest.
🔥 RAJAS – the energy of action
Restlessness, urgency, overthinking.
Momentum. Drive. Doing.
Helpful when balanced, overwhelming when constant.
🌸 SATTVA – the energy of clarity
Steady. Calm. Spacious.
Not forced. Not rigid.

A natural balance that arises when the system feels safe.
Yoga isn’t about eliminating tamas or rajas.

It’s about learning to notice:
What is present right now?
Some days you need movement.
Some days you need stillness.
Some days you need softness.
Balance isn’t a permanent state.
It’s a relationship you build, breath by breath.

At Happy Mat Yoga, we practice in a way that honours all three.
No forcing.
No pushing through.
Just intelligent, compassionate awareness.

Yesterday’s trauma-informed workshop was a journey of gentle release and deep connection. Holding space for everyone’s unique process was truly humbling. Grateful for the heartfelt reflections and the trust we built together. Here’s to the ongoing journey of healing.

Stress doesn’t just live in the mind.
It settles into the body.

In the jaw that stays tight.
In the shoulders that carry too much.
In the chest that forgets how to soften.
In the stomach that braces for what hasn’t even happened yet.

The body remembers what the mind tries to push past.

But here’s the gentle truth 🤍
Your body isn’t working against you, it’s protecting you.

At Happy Mat Yoga, I don’t force release.
I create safety first.
Through breath.
Through slow, mindful movement.
Through awareness.

When you stretch slowly…
When you breathe deeply…
When you pause and listen…
You’re teaching your nervous system that it’s safe to soften.

Healing isn’t about pushing through.
It’s about coming home to your body.

Save this as a reminder 🌿
And tell me, where do you tend to hold stress?

Sometimes the body holds onto stress, emotions, and experiences long after the moment has passed. This can show up as feeling stuck, overwhelmed, shut down, or disconnected.

Freeze to Flow is a nurturing 2-hour workshop designed to help you move from tension and survival mode into safety, softness, and gentle flow.

Through trauma-aware yoga, guided awareness, breath, and rest, you’ll be invited to reconnect with your body at your own pace, with choice, compassion, and zero pressure.

🌿 This workshop supports you to:
• Calm and regulate the nervous system
• Release stored tension gently
• Build a sense of safety in the body
• Reconnect with yourself in a supported space
• Move from “freeze” into gentle flow

✨ While holding supportive poses, I gently weave in the therapeutic sounds of crystal bowls and chimes, offering vibration, grounding, and nervous system regulation on a deeper level.

This is not about pushing or fixing.
It’s about listening, allowing, and meeting yourself where you are.
