Shout out to all the people who have anxiety or stress at the thought of Christmas social eventsππ
Family get togethers are not always easy as family dynamics are challenging, clashes of personalities, triggers of old sometimes painful memories or past trauma, bereavement etc. can all take its toll π
If you are neurodivergent this can create further anxiety as you may mask to get through social situations and you may just want to hide away π
Prepare best you can, do some breathing and relaxation before, if it gets to much take a toilet break or go outside for air π
If your a visitor leave early if you can, if not do some inner self talk in your head such as 'I can do this' or 'I'm getting through this' then as soon as you get home decompress in your own way and praise yourself for getting through it such as 'I did it, now I can relax etc.
If your hosting then you can relax and decompress as soon as guests leave π
