The Myton Hospices and everyone who crosses the threshold becomes part of the community and family of Myton. I am so blessed to be part of Myton supporting our patients, their families and loved ones as well as staff and colleagues.

Merry Christmas from all of us at The Myton Hospices 🎄

Today, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to every nurse, doctor, support staff member, and volunteer who is working this Christmas Day to care for our patients and their loved ones. Your dedication and compassion mean the world - especially on a day like today ❤️

We also want to thank all healthcare professionals across the country and beyond who are working today to provide vital care 👏🏻

We hope that all of our supporters have a wonderful Christmas Day. Thank you for all that you do to help us provide the best care possible to those in need ❤️❤️❤️

Great work from everyone who works at and supports The Myton Hospices.

Great care, compassion and ethics.
Great Hospice. 🦋

We’ve launched our first podcast … Care Within Care! ❤️

Care Within Care was created to explore the unique emotional challenges faced by those working and volunteering in the hospice sector.

Hosted by Emily Young, Employee and Volunteer Wellbeing Co-ordinator at The Myton Hospices, and self-help author Donna Higton, the podcast offers a compassionate and honest look at the pressures that come with caring for people towards the end of life - and how we can support those who do this vital work.

Each episode delves into topics such as burnout, grief fatigue, emotional resilience, and navigating boundaries in emotionally demanding environments. The podcast combines real-world insights with practical self-help tools, mindset strategies, and stories from those on the frontline of hospice care.

Emily Young, shared:

“I’m so excited about this brand new podcast, which is all bout helping people working in hospice care to manage their wellbeing.

At Myton, it is incredibly important that we support the emotional needs of our staff and volunteers – and this podcast is one way we’re doing that. We hope it will also provide support to people working in other hospices across the UK and beyond.”

We know how rewarding it is to work in a hospice setting, but also how challenging it can be at times – supporting our staff and encouraging self-care is vital.

By sharing these conversations and offering guidance on a range of topics, we hope to encourage more open dialogue and practical support across the wider hospice community. ❤️❤️

Care Within Care is now available to stream on Spotify! Find out more and listen online at https://tr.ee/sCpUCP

The beauty of nature, whatever the season, whatever the weather. Spend time in nature and let stress slip away.

Take a moment to breathe, to notice what you notice through your senses. We perceive our environment and our experiences through our senses.

Pause and take a moment to focus on the breath and notice what you See, Hear, Smell, Feel and Touch. This will ground you and bring you back to the present moment where all exists.

I am the speaker of the truth and the voice of those who do not or no longer have a voice.

I am the listener and the whisper or these who still breath.

There is so much to be said that is not said. Also so much that is said that is a veil for emotional protection.

Absolutely on board with this.

We should listen to and take care of our gut. We feel and sense things in our gut. The gut is home to our gut bacteria, the microbiome.

It's been called the second brain and where up to 80% of serotonin, the feel good hormone, is made thanks to our microbiome. Dopamine, our reward hormone, is also produced in the gut. These two neurotransmitters play a major role in mood, motivation and mental health.

How can you support your microbiome?

Consider the following:
Reduce stress
Move your body
Massage
Relaxation
Meditation
Improve sleep quality
Pay attention to nutrition
Avoid ultra processed foods
Tone and activate the vagas nerve
Tune into your gut responses

How about focus on how amasing well you are doing, and look how far you have come.

Always start small and celebrate every success no matter how small. It's the culmination of many little steps that brings about growth and fulfillment.

Place your attention on what you are grateful for and be kind to yourself.

Very interesting news story revealing the truth of the reality around palliative care and and lack of funding from the government.

I am privileged and honoured to be working as part of a team at Myton Hospice in Warwick, where we deliver holistic care to those living with a terminal diagnosis, as well as those who are at end of life.

Hospices like Myton are a vital lifeline to patients and their families at this precious time in their lives.

The right sort of end of life care can support a dignified death.

Dying can be dignified with excellent palliative care.

It is quite unbelievable that Hospices rely financially on the generosity of fundraising in the community, and the generous donations from individuals who support and have been touched personally by these life changing issues.

We are not the NHS, we are a charity.

Lest we not forget.

I observed today's two minute silence on Remembrance Sunday.

I sat in the contemplative silence. In the midst of the silence, thoughts in my head fell away to be replaced by thoughts of others. For those we have lost and those left behind. For those who carry the physical and emotional wounds of war. For those affected by war past and present.

Who knows someone else's story or what they have endured.

Let us offer peace and loving kindness to one another.

There is something pure and uniting in the stillness of silence.

Rest in the silence, let it hang in the air without the need to fill the space.

Reflexology is more than a foot rub.

We should never underestimate the power of touch and connections. Reflexology is a powerful therapeutic intervention, which induces a sense of deep relaxation, whilst helping to regulate your autonomic system.

Their care many benefits to receiving reflexology.

Give it a try.

Take a look at this post about The Harborne Hospital on the site of the Q.E.

I had a visit and walk around at The Harborne Hospital recently. Initial impression was that it did not feel like a hospital. Whilst being state of the art, with high-tech facilities, beautiful interiors, it has a welcoming, calm and luxurious feel.

This is a very thoughtful creation to welcome, treat and take into account the patients' emotional as well as physical needs and well being. This really is wrap around care in more ways than one.
