This video offers another personal example of why it is worth spending time with your shadow psychologically speaking.

What lurks in the shadow of our psyche is often ugly, brutal and initially very disarming however it MUST be looked at with curiosity, then acceptance, followed by integration.

Without acknowledging this process, we will forever remain less than whole, less than authentic and less than powerful in relation to our true potential as a human being.

Loving ourselves always comes first. We can't pour from an empty cup. It can often feel confusing to love ourselves correctly, especially when it involves someone else loss or pain, but we must alway remember that every individual is responsible for themselves.

A huge mistake on the path toward the light is to completely forget about the darkness, the negative principle, the polar opposite that makes up the WHOLE.

When we are able to enter into the shadow of our being, we find the most efficient and holistic route to our own making.

Sometimes the pain of spiritual development involves being able to hold the pain of others without needing to change them.

When we try to point out others flaws, we simply loose compassion and the ability to love ourselves and others as they are.

Again with this path, to anyone who deeply connects with astrology, mediumship, tarot cards and the like, the pitfall to this path of spiritual development is around attachment to outcome.

The moment we look "out there" to define us, we loose the ability to trust whats within.

I am not disregarding any of these practices, but instead trying to highlight the areas in which we can loose balance.

Much like the astronaut travels to explore the outer realms of the universe, the psychonaut travels inwards to explore the inner realms.

Drugs can be hugely powerful and beneficial to spiritual development and when used in the correct way they are second to none in my opinion, the only MAJOR pitfall to this path is that, relatively, the more you become attached to this method of spiritual discovery, the more unbearable it is to rest within anything outside of the mystic.

Drugs can severely poison your ability to be with the mundane, to be IN the world and make a difference to both yourself as an individual and others in the collective that we are a part of.

We are also alive in a period where we simply don't have the time to be sitting around all day meditating for answers, we need more direct and powerful lines to wisdom such as entheogenic substances.

Those who are choosing the psychonaut path of development, often have untold knowledge and experience within, however the real challenge is to express this without!

Aggrandizement refers to the act of making something larger or greater. It specifically refers to inflating something or making someone appear more important or powerful than they really are.

Those of us who feel at the peak of our spiritual game had best watch out for this bypass as it is most definitely an inflation of ego and will therefore limit us on our path to being whole.

What is Spiritual Bypass??

Simply put, it is when we loose ourselves in our spiritual developmental path by means of resting with what we believe is the answer. The effect of this is that we very much forget to actually be IN the world and DO the work.

To be human means to acknowledge and work with the WHOLE of ourselves, the good, the bad, and most IMPORTANT of all THE UGLY!

I hope this video serves to address some of the common pitfalls that we may find ourselves on along our spiritual path.

This video is an organic attempt at expressing my feelings around the current male collective psyche in terms of sexual shame and guilt.

We NEED to start looking, we NEED to start talking!

We have a responsibility as men to do this. To be kind with ourselves and to begin to properly father the lost teenage boy inside of all of us that has suffered during this most intimate and sacred process.

Ritual is really important. It builds conscious awareness around the elements of the psyche that are asking for expression in the world. It builds a sturdy bridge between the unconscious and the conscious.

There is always, unconscious wisdom unfolding within us, slowly but surely challenging old paradigms within ourselves that no longer serve us in the ways they used to.
