I’ve been noticing something recently with quite a few women who come to see me.

Some have been experiencing unexpected hair shedding after using weight-loss injections such as Ozempic, Wegovy or Mounjaro.

In many cases the medication itself isn’t directly damaging the hair. What often happens is that rapid weight loss can shock the hair cycle, triggering something called Telogen Effluvium, where more hair than usual enters the shedding phase.

Another factor can be nutrient deficiencies. When people eat much less during weight loss, levels of iron, vitamin D, B12, zinc and protein can sometimes drop, which can affect healthy hair growth.
