Cure Leukaemia

Cure Leukaemia Cure Leukaemia funds research nurses at UK blood cancer centres, giving patients access to treatments through clinical trials.

This support drives global significant advancements in blood cancer, impacting those affected by the disease. Cure Leukaemia funds the national Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP) which delivers and gives patients access to globally significant and potentially life-saving blood cancer clinical trials. Cure Leukaemia funds specialist research nurses in 12 UK Hospitals and a facilitatory Hub based in Birmingham to accelerate setup, patients recruitment and delivery of pioneering blood cancer clinical trials. Through TAP trials can be setup in as little as 6 months compared to the standard timescale of up to 2 years. With more supporters, we will fund more nurses, we will run more clinical trials, we will save more lives, we will find a cure.

On Saturday, The Tour 21 Alumni and The Route Alumna came together for a ride-out from St George's Park followed by an evening to celebrate their incredible achievements, and marking 20 years since our Patron Geoff Thomas completed his first tour!

We are delighted to share that collectively, the Tour 21 and The Route have raised over £10million, supporting blood cancer patients globally.

On the night, our brilliant host Ned Boutling spoke with former riders about their experiences on the bike and ongoing support for Cure Leukaemia. We heard from those affected by blood cancer on what these events mean to them, before Professor Charlie Craddock and Dr Katharine Patrick explained how the money raised enables them and clinical colleagues to deliver world first clinical trials to help bring us closer to a cure.

If you want to take on the challenge of a lifetime and be part of a team that is making a huge difference to patients worldwide visit The Tour 21 and The Route websites and sign up today.

We are delighted to receive a second payment of £150,000 as part of a two-year £300,000 grant from the Garfield Weston Foundation. This multi-year funding allows clinicians and blood cancer centres to plan ahead, knowing they have the resources to continue delivering and expanding life-saving blood cancer research.

Over the course of the two years, this grant has supported three dedicated Cure Leukaemia Research Nurses, who are delivering life-saving clinical trials to patients across the UK. Their work not only impacts the lives of patients today in the UK, also contributes to global research efforts, helping drive advances in blood cancer treatment worldwide.
