The proposed temporary ceasefire during Eid should not be viewed uncritically as a gesture of goodwill. Rather, it raises important questions about intent and timing, particularly in the aftermath of strikes that reportedly targeted civilian rehabilitation facilities, resulting in significant loss of life and injury.

Such actions by Pakistan, represent serious concerns under international humanitarian law, especially regarding the protection of civilians and healthcare-related infrastructure.

A temporary pause in hostilities cannot substitute for accountability.
Transparency, independent investigation, and adherence to international law are essential.

Without these, calls for ceasefire risk being perceived not as acts of respect, but as attempts to deflect scrutiny from grave violations. Pakiatan must be held accountable.
