Cool Pilates Birmingham COOL Pilates, created by Andy Adamson, offers the very best in personalised exercise regimes.

Specialising in 1-1, duet or small group teaching our fully equipped Pilates Studios are located in Birmingham Jewellery Quarter and Barnt Green. COOL Pilates is the creation of Andy Adamson, a successful freelance choreographer and dance researcher. Andy's interest in Pilates work developed in the 1980s as an integral part of his training in American Modern Dance. Following a knee operation in 1994 he began training in Pilates Matwork with Juliet Wynne. In 2002 Andy undertook the Foundation Training Programme for Teachers of Pilates (fulltime, one year), at the Oxford School of Pilates (with Jane Paterson) and at the Alan Herdman Studio. He has since studied rehabilitation in the Pilates environment with Tony Kosoto and Classical Pilates with Peter Fiasca, Kathi Ross-Nash, Clare Dunphy and Michael Miller.

Always good to see a shout out for !

“In recent months, I’ve been doing a lot more pilates. I know that sounds funny but what it has done to help my hip, my back, my kicking, everything has been great. We feel as rugby ­players we’re strong. When you’re in the gym you can lift weights and stuff but that has exposed a few areas in terms of weaknesses. I wish I’d have started it a bit earlier.”

🇺🇦Clients at our Barnt Green Studio may have spotted this caricature of Andy on the wall! It was drawn in Oct 1987 by an artist in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine! 🇺🇦
Andy was leading a party of dancers, actors and musicians on a cultural exchange visit at the time when Birmingham was twinned with Zaporizhzhia and when Ukraine was still part of the Soviet Union (hence the hammer and sickle and CCCP in the drawing). Two weeks later the Berlin Wall came down and year later saw the dissolution of the Soviet Union! A little piece of history!
