During the 3rd trimester, as a generic guide, movements should be focused on preparing your pelvis for labour and baby positioning.
⬇️
1️⃣ During the first stage of labour, the baby must enter the birth canal through the pelvis inlet. To open this space, we need to create space around the sacrum area, tilt the pelvis forward and create space between the hip bones. We can do this through movements in external rotation like deep rounded squats and in pelvic tilts such as cat/cat
2️⃣ In active labour, asymmetrical movements such as swaying lunges can help baby rotate through the narrowest part of the pelvis
3️⃣ In the final stage of labour, we need to focus more on elongating the pelvis through internal rotation in movements such as knocked knees child pose
⬇️
It’s important to remember that everyone is different and everyone experiences different pregnancy symptoms. So when we go to a public pregnancy class, everyone is in different stages of pregnancy/labour prep as well as fitness categories!
