Moor Green is an out-patient unit and has provided a rehabilitation service to people with a brain injury from across the West Midlands since 1973. When someone has had a brain injury, they will frequently need help to overcome some of the problems that the injury has created. If these problems are very complex or numerous, then the person is likely to need the services of a multi-disciplinary team, rather than the help of one or two professional groups. People come to the unit on a day to day basis for up to 5 days a week over a 6 - 12 month period accessing group work, key work sessions and one to one therapy sessions with appropriate staff members: Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists and Adult Education Tutors. Brain Injury Specialist Clinic (BISC),
Birmingham Neuro Rehabilitation Team (BNRT) or
In-Patient Neuro Rehabilitation Unit (INRU)
However any health or social care professional, carers, voluntary agencies (such as, Headway or The Stroke Association) or patients themselves can refer to BISC or BNRT although additional information regarding a patient’s condition will be required from their GP as well. Referrals to INRU are only made via a consultant or GP.
