Moor Green Unit

Moor Green Unit Moor Green is a rehabilitation facility for people who have experienced an acquired brain injury. (0 We thrive in this therapeutic community.

Many of us who have had a brain injury, for whatever reason, find ourselves struggling to come to terms with what has happened. Often our day to day life becomes more difficult and we need support to face the future and get on with life. In step the staff at Moor Green brain injury rehabilitation unit. Over the next few months, we move from bewilderment to confident and start to make friends with our new self. So what exactly is Moor Green? and how do I get there? See below for the technical stuff and how to get referred. Moor Green is an out-patient unit and has provided a rehabilitation service to people with a brain injury from across the West Midlands since 1973. When someone has had a brain injury, they will frequently need help to overcome some of the problems that the injury has created. If these problems are very complex or numerous, then the person is likely to need the services of a multi-disciplinary team, rather than the help of one or two professional groups. People come to the unit on a day to day basis for up to 5 days a week over a 6 - 12 month period accessing group work, key work sessions and one to one therapy sessions with appropriate staff members: Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists and Adult Education Tutors. Moor Green has about 60 clients in any given period, averaging 20 clients per day. Are you interested in attending Moor Green? The referral process: this can only come through three routes ~
Brain Injury Specialist Clinic (BISC),
Birmingham Neuro Rehabilitation Team (BNRT) or
In-Patient Neuro Rehabilitation Unit (INRU)

However any health or social care professional, carers, voluntary agencies (such as, Headway or The Stroke Association) or patients themselves can refer to BISC or BNRT although additional information regarding a patient’s condition will be required from their GP as well. Referrals to INRU are only made via a consultant or GP.

Yesterday Moor Green Warriors Rob and Mark came to officially unveil the new treadmill, which staff and clients worked so hard raising money for last year, via the Birmingham 10K and our very own Moor Green Cannon Hill Charity Walk. This treadmill will make such a difference to the treatment the physiotherapy department can offer.

Well done to the Moor Green Warriors today. The charity walk was a great success. Due to the generosity of friends and family we have smashed our target and it is looking like the walk alone could fund the treadmill. You should all be extremely proud of yourselves. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/warriorswalk
Thanks to all those who took part and sponsored the walkers.

Please can those who took part let us know at Moor Green how much you have raised 'offline' (sponsorship forms).
Also if you could post how many laps you completed today we can try to estimate a total distance walked over the 3 hours.
