Our Story
The history surrounding Zen goes back more than 25 years when Sylvia Chandler was running a successful flower arranging shop on Corporation Street in Birmingham's busy city centre.
Sylvia had been using plants, herbs and various alternative and complementary therapies all through her life and had a vision to open up a shop that could help people discover how to take care of themselves, naturally.
Serenity was opened on Corporation Street, this was moved to Brindley Place with the name of Zen and the art of flower arranging, which was eventually changed to simply Zen.
With another shop opening in Moseley the two stores have become more and more successful over the years, building up a reputation for educating and informing and never being afraid to steer clear of controversy - from urine therapy to magic mushrooms - the shops are well-known and loved by many people through all walks of life.
Zen has also gained a reputation for providing first-rate readings and therapies and for hosting events, courses and workshops from the Tarot for Beginners course that has been run by Kate Chandler for many years to a talk from William Rodriguez, the last man out of the world trade centre.
