Why repetition matters more than intensity in neuro rehab 🧠

In neuro rehab, progress doesn’t come from pushing harder.
It comes from repeating the right movement, again and again.

Your brain learns through practice , not exhaustion.

Every repetition:
• strengthens brain-body connections
• improves timing and coordination
• helps movements become more automatic

That’s why we often focus on:
✔️ smaller movements
✔️ slower progressions
✔️ lots of quality practice

Not because it’s “easy” but because it’s effective.

If a movement feels boring, repetitive, or unimpressive…
that usually means the brain is learning.

And on days when you feel tired or frustrated?
Repetition still counts. Even a few good reps matter.

Progress in neuro rehab isn’t about how hard you push.
It’s about how often you practice

Spasticity is increased muscle tightness caused by changes in the brain or spinal cord. Management may include education, splinting, stretching, weight-bearing exercises, and functional electrical stimulation (FES) to help reduce stiffness and improve movement. At Neuro Revive, we support patients with tailored education and individualised spasticity management. 💙

🧠 The Brain Lobes – Your brain has different areas (called lobes) that help you think, move, feel and understand the world around you 👇

🔹 Frontal Lobe
Helps with thinking, planning, emotions, behaviour and movement.
It’s important for things like concentration, decision-making and walking.

🔹 Parietal Lobe
Helps you feel touch, temperature and pain.
It also helps you know where your body is in space.

🔹 Temporal Lobe
Plays a big role in memory and understanding language.
It also helps with hearing and recognising faces.

🔹 Occipital Lobe
Helps you see and make sense of what you’re looking at 👀

If the brain is affected by a stroke, injury or neurological condition, these areas may not work as well — but with the right rehabilitation, improvement is possible 💙

At Neuro Revive Physiotherapy, we support people to rebuild skills, confidence and independence through neurological rehabilitation.

❄️ Falls Prevention This Winter ❄️

As the weather gets colder, slips, trips and falls become more common — especially for those living with neurological conditions.

The good news? Small daily habits can make a big difference in staying safe and confident this winter.

✨ Top Tips for Staying Steady:
➡️ Footwear first: Choose shoes or boots with good grip and supportive soles.
➡️ Clear your pathways: Ensure steps, driveways and hallways are well lit and free from clutter.
➡️ Keep moving: Regular strength and balance exercises help maintain stability — even 5–10 minutes a day helps.
➡️ Take your time: Slower, mindful movement reduces the risk of slips on wet or icy ground.
➡️ Use aids with pride: Walking aids are there to support your independence. Make sure rubber ferrules are in good condition.

✨ Need tailored support?
At Neuro Revive Physiotherapy, we help you build confidence, improve balance, and reduce fall risk through personalised neurological physiotherapy programmes.
Stay safe, stay steady, and enjoy the season with confidence. 💙

Caitlin, one of our physio’s has been on a very incredible and insightful course this week-

‘I’ve just completed an incredible two days at Stoke Mandeville Hospital on Early Management and Rehabilitation for the Adult with a Complete Spinal Cord Injury, and what an experience it’s been.
The teaching, clinical insights, and hands on learning were invaluable. I left with a much deeper understanding of the complexities of SCI management and the vital role early, coordinated rehabilitation plays in long-term outcomes.
I’m also truly inspired by the phenomenal work of spinal injury charities who support patients and families throughout rehab and far beyond. Their dedication, compassion, and advocacy make a real and lasting difference.
Feeling grateful, motivated, and excited to bring this learning back into my practice.’

❄️ Cold Weather & Neurological Conditions ❄️
As temperatures drop, many people living with neurological conditions may notice changes such as increased stiffness, slower movements, heightened spasticity, or more fatigue.
Cold weather can affect nerve conduction and muscle tone, making everyday tasks feel a bit harder.

At Neuro Revive Physiotherapy, we’re here to help you stay comfortable, confident, and moving well this winter. 💙🧠

🌟 Top Tips for Managing Symptoms in the Cold:
• Layer up — keeping muscles warm can reduce stiffness
• Stay active with gentle movement throughout the day
• Warm up before walking or exercising to prepare your body
• Keep hands and feet warm to support fine motor control
• Use heat packs or warm showers (as advised) to ease tightness
• Stay hydrated — even in winter, it supports muscle function
• Take breaks and pace yourself to manage fatigue

If you’re noticing changes in your mobility or symptoms this season, you’re not alone and support is available.

✨ Book a session with Neuro Revive today for personalised strategies to help you move your best, whatever the weather.
