So this is the 'end of an era' post from me. Because Smethwick Swimming Centre has finally closed it's doors now, I've actually moved out of my purple room. All the pictures are down and I'm leaving the baths and moving back to Shifa Herbs on the Hagley Road.
Just a look back at the many years I've been at the baths and all the wonderful friendships made there. I feel like it was a lucky, happy place and feel totally grateful for my time spent there and for meeting so many lovely people. To be truthful, this stage of the Purple Tree Studio has been fab. I hope you'll all come with me to the Shifa Herbs for the next installment 😊

First of all, happy new year to you all. Let's hope 2021 is a good year for us!

Unfortunately, due to the tier 4 situation in Birmingham and Sandwell I can't work for the moment so all appointments will have to be put on hold till things change. I'll post as soon as I'm back and hope to see you as soon as is possible. In the meantime, let's get out and enjoy the snow!

Sports Massage, Myofascial Release and Scarwork

I am a myofascial release therapist qualified to work on muscles and fascia. Fascia is connective tissue in a 3 dimensional matrix which threads through the whole body like a web around each and every muscle, organ, bone, nerve, artery and vein. Everything is held together and in place by this fascial web which is flexible and completely adaptable.

When one spot on the fascia gets pulled or injured by overuse, bad posture or emotional stress, the effects ripple through the body. We get pain and our body then responds by creating a compensating posture and this can lead, over time, to increased pain, build up of toxins and reduced blood flow to the area, leading to recurrent pain and discomfort.

Myofascial release is used to relieve tension, restrictions and adhesions in the fascia to restore healthy balance and function. I treat the body as a completely connected system and work with the muscles and fascia so that good posture feels natural, your breath flows freely and general movement is easy and pain free.
