🌧️ Rainy Day Self-Care

Grey skies can drain your energy, even as the evenings get lighter. Some days, slowing down is the kindest thing you can do.

Try this gentle checklist:

☑ Slow your pace – sit with a warm drink and watch the rain
☑ Let light in – turn on a lamp or open a curtain to bring in daylight
☑ Gentle movement still counts – stretch, walk around the house, or do a few yoga poses
☑ Nourish, don’t punish – make a comforting soup or enjoy your favourite snack
☑ Speak to yourself with care – say one kind thing to yourself today
☑ Complete a home workout – try a 10-minute bodyweight routine
☑ Listen to good music – play a song that lifts your mood or relaxes you
☑ Try something new – doodle, bake, or learn a small skill online
☑ Have a family dinner – cook together or enjoy a shared meal

✅ Check off what you do today — small acts of care add up and help you feel steadier, calmer, and more in control. 💛

At Citizen Coaching, we’re proud to support children and young people across Birmingham, helping them feel heard, understood, and emotionally supported.

This Children’s Mental Health Week, led by , reminds us how important it is that every child feels safe, accepted, and valued. This year’s theme, “This is My Place,” highlights the power of belonging and self-acceptance in supporting children’s wellbeing.

When young people feel they belong, they’re more able to grow, learn, and thrive.

Let’s keep creating spaces where children and young people know they matter — this week and every week.

Anger isn’t the issue — what happens next is.

Saying, “I can feel myself getting angry. That tells me this matters and I need a moment before I continue,”
isn’t avoidance. It’s regulation.

Most of us were never taught how to work with anger, not against it.
That’s what My Anger Coach helps with.

Noticing your patterns is the first step to changing them.

Awareness creates choice.
Choice creates possibility.

When you begin to notice how you think, feel, and react, you give yourself space to respond differently.

Be curious. Be compassionate. Change follows.

Sometimes our thoughts feel like they’re running the show. But remember—you don’t have to fight them or control them. The first step to peace is noticing them without letting them take over. 🌿
