The Coronavirus pandemic is indeed an unprecedented challenge for humanity. Therefore this lockdown 'Sacred Pause' is an opening for us to change and heal ourselves, help heal our loved ones and our planet too -- hence the possibility of a 'paradigm shift in consciousness' is available to us NOW which may call forth and awaken our 'authentic leadership' and 'sacred service' we call 'Seva'.
Most of us will endure some imbalance in our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies. However this disparity may go unnoticed, because of our lack of attention to our inner-wellbeing, the focus instead being on our rat-race obsession to the hoarding of 'Maya' -- the craving and attachment to material wealth that feeds our inauthentic self worth. This ongoing mission to achieve recognition may bring some fuzzy feelings of glory and pride, but barking up the wrong tree never brings 'Sahaj Anand' celestial bliss or life fulfillment according to the teachings of the Sikh SatGurus and Sages.
It is said in the 'Gurbani' scriptures that the 'Jaagna' great awakening happens when we witness or experience a significant level of 'Dukh' suffering which prompts us to pause, assess and reframe how we relate to ourselves, others and to the globe itself. This incredible moment of change is knocking at our door as we are prompted to live in our 'Bhora' cocoon like cave and change how we relate primarily with own self, then with others, and our surrounding circumstances.
We are reinventing and learning new ways of relating to and respecting others, such that even our relationship with our enemies, illness, pain, breakdowns, government, viruses and death is undergoing change globally.
Hence under just a few weeks of lockdown, we may notice the buildup of hidden stress and anxiety -- that may show up as pain in our joints, head, neck and back, or as fatigue, skin rash, an inability to digest, sleep, etc.
Trust the NHS for any serious health concerns, BUT don't panic if you experience minor ailments that may have you jump to conclusions like will I be contracting Covid-19, a stroke, arthritis, diabetes, or cancer, -- instead talk to someone you trust, about how you feel AND rest assured that it is natural for us to feel the pressure and strain during this lockdown -- we are humans who worry about our family, parents, children and our livelihood -- we are not robots without emotions.
The Sikh Coaching help line has been taking calls to coach individuals, couples and families who are facing huge stress, abuse and conflict worrying about themselves and their loved ones, with even suicidal tendencies.
I invite you during isolation to arrange a weekly 'Family Care Meeting' via Zoom or conference calling to discuss any worries that you and your loved ones are having, and as a result, see if you can take a positive stand together to let go of any hidden stress.
My invitation to my family, friends and clients is to consider inviting this lockdown as a 'Sacred Pause' that enables each one of us to eliminate our past 'Negative Business as Usual' ways -- which we must never go back to -- as our entire planet was suffering, some at risk more than others -- but now we are ALL at risk on the same platform and looking for answers 'outside the box' which calls humanity to make a miraculous change in how we live and respect others including our Mother Earth.
It seems only the 'dukh' pain of a 'mahamari' pandemic could have invited such a global awakening which we might never have gotten to experience in our lifetimes -- so NOW is the time to awaken and change those traits within us that were weakening and poisoning us.
Consider this 'Stay at Home' time to be precious; the longer we drag our feet to change, the longer the lockdown will last -- hence are we ready for the 'new chapter of existence' and 'new structures for fulfillment' -- maybe not yet, as we are still 'being cooked' in preparation for a more authentic living.
The pandemic undoubtedly will come to an end as most things do. We await scientists to provide a vaccine. Meanwhile, notice that the immune system of our human species may have become weak and needs to strenghten and handle this virus and other plagues in time to come. We will and must evolve as a result to bid farewell to the past and those that we have lost, but also to celebrate a new chapter of humanity that loves, cares and protects each other and our Mother Earth -- representing ourselves as being part of and ONE with existence that Guru Nanak Sahib called EKONKAR.
