✨ Midwife Tip for Parents: Your Home First Aid Kit ✨
As a midwife, one of the simplest ways I see parents build confidence is by having a well-stocked first aid kit at home. You may not need it often, but when you do — you’ll be so glad it’s ready 💛
Here’s what I recommend keeping on hand for babies & young children:
🩹 Basics
• Plasters (various sizes)
• Sterile gauze pads
• Micropore or medical tape
• Antiseptic wipes or spray
🌡 Health essentials
• Digital thermometer
• Infant/child paracetamol or ibuprofen (age-appropriate)
• Saline drops or spray (for noses & eyes)
🔥 Skin & injuries
• Cling Film for burns
• Arnica or bruise cream
• Barrier cream (great for sore skin and small irritations)
✂️ Tools
• Small scissors
• Tweezers
• Disposable gloves
📝 Extra tip from me:
✔️ Keep everything in one clearly labelled box
✔️ Check expiry dates every 6 months
✔️ Store medicines up high and locked away
Having a first aid kit isn’t about expecting emergencies — it’s about feeling prepared and calm when little things happen 🤍
Save this post for later & share with another parent who might find it helpful ✨
