Why do we do it? Why do we wait until our backs are right up against the wall before we finally move?
It’s the most frustrating thing in the world
We can be in a situation that is objectively bloody sh*t—painful, draining, soul-destroying—and yet we’d still rather put up with that misery than step into the unknown.
We’re literally drowning, but we’re used to the taste of the water, so we stay.
The truth is, there’s a massive difference between knowing something is good for you and actually feeling it in your body.
Your subconscious doesn’t care about your “potential” or your happiness; it only cares about your safety.
And to your subconscious, “safe” just means “familiar.” It looks at the mess you’re currently in and thinks, “Well, we haven’t died yet, so we’re staying right here.” It will do everything in its power to keep you pinned to the spot because the next chapter feels like a threat it can’t predict.
We have to find a way to bridge that gap. We have to show our nervous system that while moving is scary, staying here is the real danger. It’s soul destroying.
We need to feel, in our very bones, that the next move is safe. It’s not about being fearless. It’s about doing it despite the fear
It’s about realizing that as daunting as the “new” is, it can’t possibly be as bad as staying where we are.
It’s time to stop choosing the familiar hell and start choosing the chance to finally breathe.
Who’s coming with me ? 💕👊
