Thank you to all our lovely clients the messages cards and gifts have been wonderful. They all seem to have a garden theme the Betty's cake with bees and bluebells on it sums up our future plans.
Yesterday I got home from our last client to fins the flowers, a box of wood for another beehive shortly followed by the cake.
I will heed my own advice and pace myself. Try and curb Ian Oliver not that it has worked for 40 years so I dont expect any change there.

🩸 November is Diabetes Awareness Month 🩸

Did you know - People with diabetes are a higher risk of developing foot problems that can lead to ulcerations and even amputation? 🦢🏽

In England alone, 28 people a day, 10,000+ a year, have a toe, foot or leg amputated and only 50% of patients survive for 2 years after major amputations!

Footscan pressure measurement is a vital component of the care and treatment of diabetic patients for 6 key reasons...

πŸ‘£ Risk Assessment: Footscan helps to assess the risk of developing foot problems in diabetic individuals, allowing us to identify areas of high pressure and impulse beneath the feet that may be prone to calluses, corns, and ulcerations.
πŸ‘£ Early Detection: By monitoring foot pressure regularly, we can identify changes in pressure distribution over time. Any abnormalities can indicate emerging problems and trigger early intervention before these issues progress to more serious complications.
πŸ‘£ Preventative Education: Footscan serves as a valuable tool for educating patients about their foot health. When patients see visual 2D and 3D representations of their foot pressure, they better understand the importance of proper footwear, regular foot checks and foot care routines.
πŸ‘£ Neuropathy Monitoring: Diabetic neuropathy can lead to a loss of sensation in the feet. Patients with neuropathy may not feel pain or discomfort from excessive pressure or injuries. Footscan can compensate for this lack of sensory feedback, allowing us to identify problems even when patients cannot.
πŸ‘£ Wound Management: Wounds and ulcers can develop without pain or obvious symptoms due to such neuropathy. Footscan can help to determine pressure reducing strategies that are most effective for specific ulcers and wounds.
πŸ‘£ Bespoke Orthoses: Footscan analysis can inform the prescription of orthoses to assist with redistributing pressure more evenly across the foot to reduce the risk of developing calluses and ulcers.

By booking in for your annual Footscan assessment as part of diabetes management, we can significantly reduce the risk of ulcerations, infections, and amputations βœ…

Thank you to Judith and Ian Oliver from Allied Orthotic Service for their very informative in-service training today regarding bespoke in-soles and latest techniques/ technology for foot posture assessment.

We were very interested in recent case studies of local sportspeople including golfers, runners and footballers who have found in-soles very beneficial.

If you feel you would benefit from bespoke in-soles please discuss with your Physiotherapist or call the practice on 01325 310 122 and we can arrange an assessment with Judith and Ian.
