Blackburn Birth Centre is a freestanding birth centre where women who are not anticipating any problems can labour and give birth to their babies in a relaxed, home from home environment, supported by midwives and their choice of birth partners.

A photo to get us in the Christmas spirit at Blackburn Birth Centre community midwifery. Larissa one of our community midwives in Darwen has looked after proud big sister Liliana and most recently her twin sisters Maddie and Maeve throughout both mum Tayla's pregnancies. A little post showing the community midwife side and that even in consultant led pregnancies sometimes it's nice to have that community midwife input still and have some continuity. 😊

🎊 🎉 Congratulations 🎉🎊 on gaining your band 6 as a midwife.

✨️ Parveen started her journey in the NHS working in an admin role in the outpatient department at Royal Blackburn Hospital in 2018. In January 2021 Parveen came to work at Blackburm Birth Centre as a Maternity Support Worker, a role which she continued to do throughout her midwifery training until she qualified as a band 5 Midwife in 2024.

✨️Parveen now works as a very much valued midwife in our midwifery continuity team - The Willow Team

✨️ After qualifying as band 5 midwives all of our midwives undergo a comprehensive preceptorship period where they rotate across the different maternity areas, consolidating their learning, building on skills learnt during their midwifery training and learning new skills. During this time they are required to meet a specific set of competencies before they can then move up to a band 6 midwife.

✨️ Well done Parveen we are all very proud of your achievements so far and look forward to continuing to work with you and seeing where your midwifery journey takes you next. ♥️

✨️ Congratulations to Kathryn & Joshua who gave birth to baby Jesper last month at the birth centre. Jesper was the first baby to be born at the birth centre after our 15th Birthday Celebration event so they were also given our 15th birthday hamper 💕
