Today (3 November) marks the start of Stress Awareness Week.
Feeling stress sometimes is a natural part of life and while some people find stress helpful or even motivating if stress is affecting your life there are things you can try that may help. Long-term or severe stress though can lead to feelings of anxiety.
Simple things such as talking, leading a healthier lifestyle and doing some physical activity are things that you can try to help with your stress. Whilst exercise won't make your stress disappear, it can reduce some of the emotional intensity that you're feeling, clearing your thoughts and letting you deal with your problems more calmly.
It may also help you to read Dilys's story. Dilys has suffered from anxiety most of her life. She acknowledges that moving more is essential for her mental wellbeing as well. Engaging in physical activities keeps her mind focused on positive things, helping her maintain a brighter outlook and preventing dark thoughts from taking over.
