⚠️ Meningitis: Please Check Your Child’s Vaccinations 💉Vaccination Service: 0300 303 1373
ABUHB Director of Public Health, Professor Tracy Daszkiewicz, is urging parents and carers to make sure children and teenagers are protected against meningitis, following recent tragic cases in Kent 💔
Meningitis can develop very quickly and can be life threatening. Vaccination is the best way to prevent it.
🛡️ Key meningitis protection includes:
• MenB for babies and young children
• Pneumococcal vaccine (can also prevent meningitis)
• MenACWY for Year 9 pupils and young people under 25 starting university
Young children, teenagers and students in shared accommodation are at the highest risk.
👉 Check your child’s vaccination record by contacting the Vaccination Service: 0300 303 1373
👉 Book any missed doses
👉 Learn the symptoms and seek urgent help if concerned

Pharmacy Opening Times - Easter 2026

𝗠𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗰𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗕 (𝗠𝗲𝗻𝗕)

ᴡʜᴏ ɢᴇᴛꜱ ɪᴛ ᴏɴ ᴛʜᴇ ɴʜꜱ?
🔴It is routinely offered to babies (under 2) as part of the UK childhood immunisation schedule. It is not offered to all age groups under the NHS.

ᴄᴀɴ ᴏʟᴅᴇʀ ᴄʜɪʟᴅʀᴇɴ, ꜱᴛᴜᴅᴇɴᴛꜱ, ᴏʀ ᴀᴅᴜʟᴛꜱ ɢᴇᴛ ᴠᴀᴄᴄɪɴᴀᴛᴇᴅ?
🔴Yes, but usually not through the NHS, unless they have certain medical conditions that increase risk.

Some medical conditions increase the risk of severe infections. People who already have these conditions may need the MenB vaccine. The conditions include:
🔴Not having a spleen or having a spleen that does not work very well (including due to sickle cell and coeliac disease)
🔴Problems with the immune system (complement disorders)

If you are concerned, it is recommended that you speak to your GP for more information.

📢 Surgery Closed – Protected Learning Time – Wednesday 4th March

On Wednesday, 4th March, the practice will be closed from 1:00pm for Protected Learning Time, training with Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

🕗 The surgery will reopen as normal the following morning at 8:00am.

If you feel you urgently need to be seen that afternoon, please contact the surgery, and a member of our reception team will take some information from you. We will liaise with the GP Out of Hours service, who will support us during this time.

Please note: you must be willing to travel if you need to be seen.
