.... 'The futility of worry...' a great snippet from a master of being present, Eckhart Tolle.

The mind can only actually deal with what is happening at this present moment, it cannot fix the future nor the past, so escaping into the breath helps the brain and body reset into the place where we can do something about our life.

Give the most loving gift to yourself and others on valentines day, be present. ๐Ÿ’•โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ’–

Or book a massage with yours truly ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’†๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™

Worry has never created a real solution. It only creates imaginary problems. The moment you shift your attention to your breath, you step out of useless thin...

Fascia is such a buzzword in the physical and emotional therapy world atm. And for good reason. Our silken, 70% water, internal bodysuits affect so much of our daily lives without us even realising it or being aware it exists! I recently listened to a really interesting podcast from founder of Human Garage, Jason Van Blerk, and he mentioned this cracking little 2 minute technique for working with your body to give yourself more energy without consuming sugar or stimulants..give it a try, bet you'll enjoy it!

Why constant bad news can keep your brain in stress mode: endlessly scrolling through negative headlines repeatedly activates your bodyโ€™s stress system, releasing hormones like cortisol and adrenaline even though youโ€™re not in real danger. Over time this keeps your nervous system on high alert, increases anxiety and psychological distress, and can lead to symptoms similar to trauma responses seen in people at actual events. Research has found that people who spent excessive time consuming traumatic news showed more acute psychological symptoms than those directly at the scene of an incident, likely because repeated exposure prevents the brain from returning to a calm state.

What we eat is a huge part of nourishing our health.

I love this one page tip sheet from Glucose Goddess - apparently spikes in glucose negatively affects our levels of tyrosine, which helps us feel 'chilled'. I am always happy to be educated, and this seems like a great place to start to aid consistent energy levels through the day! โšก๐Ÿ‘

โ€œIf it werenโ€™t for my mind, my meditation would be excellent.โ€ โ€“ Ani Pema Chodron

I hear sometimes that people 'can't meditate because my mind jumps around too much'. Our neurology has evolved from ancestors who were very good at being distracted by a rustle in the bushes, as it helped keep us alive! The practice of meditation is more about re-applying the focus onto a desired point. The patience and persistence this takes is the thing that helps grey matter develop 'brakes', and over time the inner mental narrative slows down.

Finding tiny ways to retain focus, or mindfulness, in your daily routine is a other good way to help improve cognitive function. Try cleaning your teeth, and only focusing on cleaning your teeth. Gently observe when your mind wanders (which it is programmed to do) and bring it back to the task in hand. Use all the senses (taste, touch, sight, hearing) to help keep you in the present moment.

Zen can be part of your daily routine, no matter how busy you are ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿค๐Ÿ˜Š

That feeling when a client tells you their counter used to be covered in painkillers, nerve blockers etc and now they no longer need any!!

After managing back pain for a couple of decades and trying lots of different therapies, a particularly bad flare-up made my client approach me, expecting to either 'have this pain for a year or for life'. Within 10 sessions, the debilitating back pain has resolved to a mere hip twinge now and again. I don't often do full combination including spiritual work as the laser tends to do the majority, but as my client was interested in it we utilised it and it seemed to offer the extra dimension of healing this condition needed to repair.

I am thrilled, as this is precisely why I do my job in the first place.
A lovely way to finish Christmas week.

Next time you say, 'that is getting on my nerves', you can remember that it may be because you have 72 kilometres of nerves in your body....! ๐Ÿคฏ Even more mindblowing, 95,000km of blood vessels! That's 2.3 times around the equator...or John O'Groats to Lands End and back 10 times!

I love this infographic from Physical Therapy Session, the body is truly incredible.
You deserve to look after it ๐Ÿ˜

โžก๏ธThe human body is a complex organism composed of several interconnected systems.

โžก๏ธLook at how beautifully our inner systems are designed:

โ—๏ธVascular System - Over 95,000 km of blood vessels work nonstop to carry oxygen and nutrients to every cell.

โ—๏ธNervous System - Nearly 72 km of nerves help your body think, feel, move, and respond within milliseconds.

โ—๏ธHuman Skeleton - A strong framework of 206 bones that protects organs and supports every movement.

โœจYour body is your home for life. Take care of it with a simple habit: just 30 minutes of walking a day can make a world of difference!โœจ

Exercise at One Stage of Life May Cut Dementia Risk by Up to 45% : ScienceAlert https://share.google/j97bsFXvg8rDGBJ7i

This was a huge study, over generations, and it demonstrates a clear trend: 'The findings largely reinforce what scientists already know: exercise is good for the brain.

When researchers examined physical activity levels, the pattern was striking. Those with the highest levels of activity in midlife and later life were 41โ€“45% less likely to develop dementia than those who had the lowest levels of activity.

What sets this study apart is its large sample, multi-decade follow-up, and its genetic analysis across different life periods.

The suggestion that midlife activity benefits some individuals differently depending on their genetic risk, while late-life activity benefits nearly everyone, may also add a new layer to public health messaging.'

For years, scientists have known that moving our bodies can sharpen our minds.

Colon cancer is on the rise among young people โ€“ and research points to one major culprit | Devi Sridhar | The Guardian https://share.google/88F7rH2BAbhp55NSl

'Each generation is more likely to get cancer than the previous generation' - unless we make it very clear that there is so much more to what you eat than taste alone. Even if you are fit and within the 'normal' BMI reference range, eating high amounts of ultra processed foods could make you 29% more likely to get colorectal cancer, regardless of whether it has happened to your ancestors or not.

Please read, stay well ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿซ‚

If smoking was the cancer villain of the 20th century, eating ultra-processed food may be its 21st-century counterpart, says Prof Devi Sridhar, chair of global public health at the University of Edinburgh

About 2,500 hours of clinician time is saved during the app's three-month trial, the NHS says.
