Activity helps you mentally and physically feel better and helps to reduce stress and anxiety. Walking is a free and easy way to build more activity into our lives.

Why not make a start and join our Walking Group on a Wednesday? Please see the walking programme for November below.

If you know of someone who would be interested but doesn't have access to the internet and would like a printout of the programme, please let Reception know.

Did you know your health isn't just about medication or treatment?

Here at Milton Abbas Surgery, we have two Social Prescribers (Anna and Kelly) - friendly and supportive professionals who can help connect you to non-medical services that improve your wellbeing.

Whether you are feeling isolated, struggling with finances, needing a foodbank voucher, or want to find local support groups or activities, our Social Prescriber's are here to listen and guide you.

Ask at reception or speak to one of our team to be referred, and one of our Social Prescriber's will get in touch to see how they can help - because your wellbeing matters.

We would like to say a very BIG thank you to all our lovely health champions (Dotti, Jacqui & Jean) who helped out with our Surgery Coffee Morning on Tuesday this week. We couldn't have done it without you!

Thank you also to Angie Porter from Dorset Council, Isobel Shewell from the Mid Dorset Primary Care Network Occupational Team and Simon Thompson from Help & Care for their support and advice.

We will do another Surgery Coffee Morning in the near future, but in the meantime if any of you need support please just give us a call or send an email to the surgery for the attention of our Social Prescribers Anna & Kelly, and we will help in anyway we can.

And to our carers - you are all doing a fabulous job!

It’s Men’s Health Month... or rather, Movember!

Men can be notoriously bad about looking after their physical and mental health – and there are some shocking statistics out there to prove it. Men die on average nearly five years earlier than women and often for reasons that are preventable.

Men need to talk more about how they feel and not feel they can’t talk to their doctor about anything that is worrying them. It’s up to all of us to support men to do this – and not just for one month a year.
