I never ask my clients to track calories over Christmas...

Although, some feel they want/need to and that's fine too.

I also don't tell them to eat everything in sight just for the sake of it.

I remind them to enjoy what this time of year brings...

For me, it's Terry's chocolate orange and Jack Daniels with Die Hard 👊

So by all means...do what you wish.

The only way to believe in yourself, is to do the action first.

Every check-in, Connor would say something like...

"I'm doing alright I guess? 🤷‍♂️"

Then BAM...he saw it.

Just how well he was really doing.

This is a huge milestone moment.

Not only has Connor lost 10kg and a good few inches from his waist...

He now BELIEVES he can achieve more.

Because he's just spent the last 3 months taking action and putting in effort.

Working with me doesn't = results.

UNLESS you work the plan we put together.

It'll take effort but it WILL be worth it.

If all you did was eat less calories...

Yes you'd lose fat.

You'd also lose muscle.

You'd never get stronger or build any real fitness.

You'd still feel the same when you looked in the mirror.

You'd just weigh less on the scale.

While I get the analogy...

If you want to totally transform how you look and feel, go all in and do all of it.

Weight training and walking are the two W's of success when it comes to physique change.

Better bodies are built with resistance.

Lift, walk, calorie deficit.

The big rocks will never change.

If you want to lose fat, you'll need to control your calories.

If you want to look awesome, you'll need to lift weights.

If you want to be healthier and live longer, you'll have to eat better and walk more.

How YOU get those things done, depend on YOUR lifestyle, circumstances and schedule.

But you need to do them.

There's no getting around that.

Unfortunately, your body doesn't care what you want 🤷‍♂️

It only cares about what you DO.

My clients and I have some deep conversations about this.

Resistance to change is totally normal.

And fixing bad habits and developing a new mindset takes time.

Despite the nature of this reel, I of course care about my clients thoughts and feelings.

It's just the body that doesn't 😂

So remember, you don't get results because you want them...it takes the right action.

You need to stop looking at basic, healthy habits like eating right and exercising as being "on it"

It's not exactly extreme to eat protein & veg instead of Greggs...you're an adult.

It's not a real sacrifice to eat less chocolate and biscuits.

And it's not exactly a massive time commitment to exercise when you look at how you spend your time otherwise.

We need to normalise healthy behaviours.

We need to stop looking at regular gym goers as "they take it so serious"

We need to stop asking if someone's on a diet just because they chose the healthiest choice on thw menu.

Normalise the basic stuff you need to do for a better quality of life and you'll get results that last.

Under reporting is a massive issue with calorie tracking.

Knowingly or unknowingly.

But in my experience, more often than not, it's knowingly.

If you do great Mon-Thurs but then decide weekend calories don't count...

You're just delaying your own progress 🤷‍♂️

Every single calorie that you eat matters.

Even if you don't log it in My Fitness Pal, your body logs it just fine.

My advice to all my clients is to go all in.

Weigh your food, check food labels and track as accurately as you can.

That way, you'll get the best results possible.

"I hate tracking calories"

Ok fine.

But if you want to lose fat, you've got to do SOMETHING.

When I'm not tracking, I still follow some guidelines...

I eat 3 high protein meals and (almost) no snacks.

I don't drink any calories, it's black coffee, water and the odd pepsi max.

And I weigh the stuff that's easy to overconsume.

Like pasta, cereal, butter, mayo etc.

You can't just keep doing what you are doing and hope for the best.

If you want to lose 10-20lbs of body fat and feel amazing, you need to be intentional.

If you're going to pick just one workout routine to follow, I'd suggest full body training.

It's going to be way easier on your schedule.

Even on your busiest weeks where you only make it to the gym once, you can still hit everything.

It's not going to leave you sore like a leg day does.

Which is ideal if you've got kids, school runs and a 40hr work week...which is most of you right?

It's also super easy to program.

4-6 exercises is PLENTY, here's an example 👇

1a. Incline Dumbell Press
1b. Incline Dumbell Row
2a. Leg Press
2b. Hamstring Curl
3a. Bicep Curl
3b. Tricep Pushdown

Simple and brutally effective 💪
