💉 FLU JAB SOS 💉

As you may be aware, Flu has arrived early this year. A mutated strain of flu appeared this summer, making it easier to spread and possibly more severe.

✅ What’s happening?
• The virus mutated outside the usual season
• It may evade some immunity from past infections & vaccines
• It is spreading fast across the UK

📈 Cases are already higher than previous years. Some scientists warn this could be the worst flu season in a decade.

💡 So what can you do?
✔ Book your flu jab now, please ring the surgery or ask whilst you are attending an appointment

You can also…
✔ Wash your hands regularly
✔ Ventilate rooms
✔ Stay home if sick

Flu can be mild, but for older and vulnerable people, it can be deadly.

📢 Service Update from Newsham Surgery

⚠️Due to unprecedented levels of staff sickness in our reception team, Newsham Surgery will be closing early today at 4:00 PM.

🔸We deeply apologize for the short notice and any disruption this causes to your plans.

🖐What you need to know:

👍Normal hours will resume tomorrow (06.11.2025).

👍Our telephone system remains fully operational.

👍The Health Centre and Gatacre site are operating under normal hours.

Today we are celebrating the start of our early Halloween event at Railway Medical Group. There’s lots happening throughout the day, and we invite patients and visitors to come along and meet our teams.

Our Vaccination Team is here providing COVID-19 and flu vaccination untill
and Bluey is supporting the delivery of nasal flu vaccinations for children. Untill 12pm

Our Social Prescribing Team is on hand to offer advice and support around wellbeing, including our Blood Pressure Awareness Event. Untill 4pm

We’re also joined by Erika from the Breast Screening Service, who is available to provide information and support about breast screening. Untill 12pm
