A wonderful day with Berrycoombe School

We had an extra Christmas treat yesterday. Following our 'Christmas Food' game of Hangman, we had a visitor.

Well known Cornish Singer Will Keating, popped in, on his way to a gig nearby and sang a few Cornish songs for us. Everyone loved it, they sang along, cheered and a few shed some happy tears.

A big thank you to Will for your kindness and generosity, making a lot of people very very happy 😄😊🥲

Monday 1st December 2025
and Christmas begins .....

The tree is up and the Castle Hill Elves have returned.

Yesterday, the Elves visited every resident, giving out chocolate treats and a copy of our Christmas Calendar, chatting and laughing about what we would be getting up to in the next few festive weeks 😄🎁 Residents then picked names out of a hat for our elves, picking a first and last name 😆 followed by a Christmas Craft session 🎄

Proud To Care Cornwall

We are creating a festive social media campaign to celebrate the amazing people working in home care across Cornwall – and we’re looking for care workers who’d love to get involved! 💙

Throughout November, our good friend Duane AJ Music will be filming short, joyful clips of care workers spreading Christmas cheer – singing a carol, sharing a festive message, or simply capturing the warmth and connection that make care in the community so special.

Whether you can hold a tune 🎶 or just want to share your Christmas spirit 🎅, we’d love to feature you!

Filming will be relaxed and friendly, taking place across Cornwall. You’ll be joined by , a local singer and content creator who’s helping us bring the idea to life.

Friday Frothy Coffee & Catch Up mornings now include a 'What's in the Bag' session!

What's in the bag? I told the residents it was green and sticky, you used to collect them but you can't get them anymore. Would you have known what's in the bag? - Green Shield Stamps 😂

A great reminiscence session, we talked about how we collected them and how much they were worth, the albums we used to stick them in and what we would buy with them when the album was full.

I wonder what will be in the bag next time?

'Magic Moments' with the Singing Gardener

One of our residents, a 95 year old lady, rather frail who doesn't normally attend activities, was told of a surprise waiting for her downstairs. As she made her way down with our Senior, she was overjoyed to see the Singing Gardener performing. She remembered him from years ago when she was more able to join in singing and dancing. She went straight to him, full of joy and happiness and danced and sang with him for two whole songs.

What a wonderful afternoon for all.

World Singing Day - Saturday 18th October

Our activities room was full, and the sound of songs filled the home last weekend when family and friends joined us for World Singing Day 2025. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and we sang so many songs, ending with our Castle Hill favourite Sweet Caroline! 😌😊🎤🎼

More Friday fun with Duane AJ Music (and a couple of others .....)

Couldn't resist some impromptu twirling of an umbrella during 'Singing in the Rain' and as for the Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot bikini - well, that's a whole other story - but I wish you could hear the resident's laughter that filled the room 🤣😅

Autumn arrived in the activities room

We spent a beautiful sunny afternoon looking at the wonders of nature in the Autumn, with conkers, acorns, leaves and lots more. We reminisced about games of conkers with our friends and how some of us cheated by making the conkers stronger!

We then settled into some Autumn Craft, this time creating Autumnal Trees 🍁🍂
