The offending part of the nail has to be removed to ensure the start of a safe healing process - along with antibiotics from your doctor, but antibiotics alone will not solve the issue.

Ingrown toenails can be treated by your local Podiatrist, Chiropodist and Foot Health Practitioner 👣

We can ensure safe removal, infection prevention and control and provide aftercare and advice 🧑‍⚕️

But, but all means, please attend A&E if your toe is falling off ☠️

NHS England reported 3,890 ingrown toenails presented at A&E last winter. Podiatrists are the experts in foot and lower limb care and can provide specialist care for ingrown nails, including minor surgery to resolve them. Check with your local NHS for podiatry access criteria or find your nearest private podiatrist at https://rcpod.org.uk/find-a-podiatrist and save A&E for the critical care.

There is no need to feel embarrassed or ashamed, there is absolutely no judgement here!

A lot of my regular patience say “the older I get, the further way my feet get”, and sometimes they get so far, they just give up.

It was an absolute pleasure treating this patient, and I thoroughly look forward to seeing them again in 6 weeks 👣
