When a child’s emotional brain takes over, logic and reason switch off — and connection becomes the bridge back to calm.

These phrases don’t fix the feeling; they regulate the brain behind it.
Save this as part of your calm-down toolkit and share with anyone who supports children through big emotions.

Welcome to 2026, and an offer of Therapy Opportunities for Children, Young People, and Families with Marbles Play & Creative Arts Therapy in West Sussex.

We are delighted to announce increased availability for our Play & Creative Arts Therapy sessions, Integrative Sandplay Therapy sessions, and Parent-Child Attachment Play opportunities.

These services are designed to provide meaningful support to children, young people, and families, helping everyone make the very best of the year ahead.

Play & Creative Arts Therapy offers a gentle yet profoundly effective approach for children and young people to express and process their feelings and experiences. Through the natural language of play—whether with toys, art materials, or creative storytelling—children are able to explore their inner world in a safe, supportive, and boundaried space.

Sessions are facilitated by experienced, empathetic, and highly qualified therapists who understand the unique needs of each child. This therapeutic method respects the child’s pace and individuality, providing an environment where emotions can be freely expressed and understood.

Integrative Sandplay Therapy invites children and young people (as well as parents/carers) to use sand and miniature figures to create symbolic representations of their thoughts and feelings. This non-verbal, creative process can be especially beneficial for those who find it difficult to articulate their emotions. The tactile nature of sandplay, combined with the freedom to create stories and worlds, encourages self-discovery and healing in a protected therapeutic setting.

Parent-Child Attachment Play is designed to nurture and strengthen the vital bond between parent/carer and child. Through guided play activities, families are supported in fostering secure attachments, building trust, and enhancing emotional communication. This approach not only benefits children’s emotional development but also empowers parents with practical tools for positive interaction and connection.

Why Choose These Therapies in 2026?

Emotional Resilience: Support children and young people in developing coping skills and resilience for challenges ahead.

Safe Expression: Offer a welcoming space for emotions to be explored and understood without judgement.

Family Connection: Strengthen family relationships and promote healthy attachment through shared experiences.

Qualified Support: Benefit from the expertise of therapists dedicated to the wellbeing of every individual.

With expanded session times available throughout 2026, families can more easily access the support they need. Whether you are seeking therapy for your child, wish to explore sandplay, or want to participate in attachment-based activities, we invite you to contact us and discover the difference these creative and relational therapies can make.

Make this year a time of growth, healing, and joyful connection. To enquire about session times or to book an initial consultation, please contact us directly. We, at Marbles Play & Creative Arts Therapy look forward to supporting you and your family in 2026 and beyond.

Free HELPING CHILDREN CALM: CONNECTION BEFORE CORRECTION POSTER
So many adults try to guide a child when the child is already overwhelmed. We speak, we explain, we set limits, but nothing seems to work. The truth is simple. A child cannot listen when their body feels unsafe.

This free poster shows how connection helps turn the brain back on so the child can think, breathe and understand what we are saying. It gives easy steps any adult can use, such as slowing your movements, softening your voice, naming the feeling and waiting for the body to settle. Small changes can make a huge difference.

If you support children, kids or teens with big emotions or challenging behaviour, this guide is a helpful reminder that calm always comes first.

Comment CALM and we will message you a link to the free PDF of the poster.

The EDI Committee at Play Therapy UK is proud to champion equality, diversity, and inclusion across our work, ensuring every child’s voice is heard and valued. Today is a reminder that small acts of care, attention, and kindness can make a big difference.

Let’s make space for children to shine, today and every day. 🫶

Your Role as a Parent in Play Therapy 💛

As a parent, your support is central to your child’s therapeutic journey. 🌱

🔹 Your child may choose to keep what happens in their sessions private – this is normal. They might not have the words to explain yet.
🔹 Play Therapists keep session details confidential but can share general themes, patterns, and topics so you can support your child at home.
🔹 There’s no need to expect ‘good’ behaviour in sessions – therapy is a safe space for free expression, without judgement.

When you choose a Play Therapist listed on the Play Therapy UK Accredited Register, you can be assured they meet the highest professional standards. Our register is the first of its kind – independently overseen and accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA), the body that protects the public by ensuring quality and safety across health and social care: https://zurl.co/lxqe4

This means your child’s therapist:
✅ Holds a Level 7 postgraduate qualification in Play Therapy (https://zurl.co/7G8zP)
✅ Has membership with PTUK – a professional body regulated by the PSA
✅ Receives mandatory monthly clinical supervision
✅ Completes ongoing safeguarding training and yearly CPD specific to play therapy
✅ Follows GDPR compliance standards
