We're an independent charity, and our services are free. Our team of doctors, nurses and other professional staff provide specialist care and support for local people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses and their families, in the hospice and at home. We provide care throughout a patient’s illness, so they achieve the best possible quality of life. This includes end of life care, helping them to achieve a good death. We're a charity mainly funded by local people. Together we need to raise around £4 million a year to continue to provide our services for free.

Why does Ursula choose to support Bolton Hospice by volunteering?

"Ten years ago my wonderful husband Mark died in the hospice. He was diagnosed with metastatic cancer only nine weeks earlier, and had been in hospital since then. Mark was then given some respite care at Bolton Hospice, with the hope that he would come home, but unfortunately that didn't happen.

"Mark's time in hospital had been frantic and distressing for everyone, but that soon changed when he was admitted to Bolton Hospice. Mark arrived on Friday evening and by Saturday morning he phoned me to say how wonderful a place the hospice was. The two weeks before Mark's passing we as a family shared new memories and spent precious time together with Mark at Bolton Hospice.

"Mark was pain free and comfortable, and their consultants were there for us all, answering any questions. It is a wonderful place that provides an amazing service to all the family.

"Me and my family have continued to support the hospice as they cared for and supported us so well, that's why I choose to volunteer my time in their charity shops."

Our Christmas Fair is just around the corner at the Albert Halls on 22nd November, and we need your help to make our tombolas a festive hit!

We're looking for donations of bottles and chocolates to help raise vital funds for local people living with life-limiting illnesses 💜

If you're able to help, donations can be dropped off at:
🍾 Giles House between 10am and 4pm

Remember Esmé, fundraising superstar? For 12 months we followed her ‘Esmé runs a year’ challenge, which saw her cover a whopping 450 miles in rain or shine, and we’re now delighted to share her fantastic total!

The young runner has raised an absolutely incredible £2850, enough to pay for over 125 hours of compassionate nursing care for local families facing life-limiting illnesses 💜

On 22nd November we're taking over Bolton's Albert Halls to bring you a Christmas Fair like no other, complete with a chance to meet Father Christmas himself.

Browse a range of local artisan stalls, indulge in festive food and drink, visit Santa in his grotto, plus stick around to enjoy Bolton's very own 'Put Big Light On' festival ✨
