To be honest, there isn’t necessarily a perfect time to get laser eye surgery, as there are a lot of dependents- mostly what works for you personally!

Having said that, there are definitely some benefits to getting your surgery done in the slightly cooler months (although with sun glasses it’s no big deal 😎)

Head on over to our website to read our latest blog on what those benefits are!

The ☀️ is out! Even if it’s only temporary - here are some tips to keep those eyes healthy!

Remember, it doesn’t have to be hot for the sun to damage your eyes.

☑️ Wear sunglasses with UV protection

Sunglasses are more than just a fashion accessory, they’re fundamental for help to protect eyes from UV rays. Choose a good pair and not just on sunny days, the UV rays are present even during dull cloudy days too!

☑️ Reduce screen time

We know it’s not always that easy, but make sure you’re giving your eyes a rest if you stare at a screen all day. Try taking a break for 15 minutes every 2 hours (even closing them to maintain moisture).

☑️ Stay hydrated

As the sun gets stronger it’s likely you’ll get dehydrated quicker. Remember to drink plenty of water through the day as hydration is crucial for eye health. It supports tear production, keeps the eyes lubricated and helps prevent dryness and irritation.

☑️ Eat & sleep well

Proper nutrition is also essential for healthy and clear vision. Food and drink plentiful in Vitamin C, E and zinc, can help oppose macular degeneration and different indications or eye damage. Try eating eggs, meat, legumes or nuts for a high intake of zinc!
On top of that make sure you’re getting plenty of sleep, as just like the rest of your body - your eyes need a proper rest and recharge.

☑️ Wear a hat

Along with sunglasses, a hat is an excellent way to keep the sunlight out of your eyes providing another layer of protection. It can also help prevent dehydration. (Plus you get to style both together).

☑️ Quit smoking

There’s never a bad time to quit - but why not make it this year? Smoking can not only cause irritation and dryness to your eyes it can cause cataracts.

☑️ Use eye drops

Eye drops aren’t only for when you’ve got irritated eyes; they are a fantastic way to add an extra layer of hydration to your eyes all year round, especially when the ☀️ is shining.

Are there any other tips you know or would recommend? 💜

Why do our patients choose Visualase? 🤔

We could talk about the lower than average cost, or the 0% finance, or even the technology we use - but honestly, the biggest feedback we get is that as we’re a small independent business, you really get that hands on experience.

Most patients have lots of questions, may have a fear of anything going near their eye or generally may be nervous! You won’t be passed between pillar and post here, you’ll have a personal team looking after you the whole way to make sure you have the best experience 💜

RLE is fast becoming a very popular form of treatment. So what actually is it? What’s the procedure? 🤔

1. RLE is a surgical procedure for the correction of short sight (myopia) and long sight (hyperopia) to reduce your dependence on glasses or contact lenses.

2. Refractive Lens Exchange is an alternative to laser vision correction (LVC) in patients unsuitable for laser refractive surgery. The common reason is that the refractive error (spectacle prescription) is too large to be safely or effectively corrected by LVC.

3. RLE involves a surgical procedure on the eye that is very similar to modern cataract surgery. It therefore uses tried and tested techniques and technologies. In essence, RLE involves removing the natural clear crystalline lens from the eye and replacing it with a plastic PREMIUM artificial lens (intraocular lens- IOL), the focusing power of which is chosen to reduce dependence on glasses.

4. A cataract occurs when the natural lens of the eye becomes cloudy and obscures vision. The treatment of a cataract is to remove the cloudy lens and replace it with a PREMIUM Lens Implant to restore vision. With RLE, the same thing is done. The only difference is that the natural lens of the eye is clear, and the objective of the procedure is to reduce dependence on glasses and contact lenses. This is why the procedure is sometimes called Clear Lens Extraction.
