What do you sing for World Nursery Rhyme Week when you are a forest school?

Yes, forest school versions of our most popular nursery rhymes....

Looking forward to introducing our toddlers to such delights this week in our sessions.

PS if you or anyone you know would enjoy our sessions, we have spaces at most of our venues. Please note these are for Bolton residents only (Bolton council tax payers) and for families with children under 5. They're free to attend, last 1 1/2 hours and include brews for the the adults and healthy snacks for the little ones. See the comments for the link to book.

Let them eat mud!

Yes, who knew?

Yup, it's actually good for babies and toddlers, in fact all of us.....

Increasingly, society is inclining towards being hyper hygienic, altering beneficial bacteria and so promoting conditions such as diabetes, asthma, obesity and allergies.

Here's are some of our young attendees at last Monday, making sure their microbiomes are tip top.

PS this session was actually themed to think about - and how parents can look after both their own stress levels and those of their children. Admittedly, some found the consumption of mud etc a little too stressful, so we counterbalanced it with some mindful crafts, and cups of tea, as well as trying to find some elements of nature that they liked the look, smell, and texture of.... The children, on the other hand, were in their element, and becoming increasingly relaxed with each other and the setting.

PPS if you would like to learn a bit more about why it's good to let your children get messy, there's actually a book/documentary made a few years ago, which is worth a read. Check the comments for the link.

Good evening, and how have you been?

Last couple of weeks have seen our Nature, Nurture, Natter sessions continue, with a few new and old faces. Yesterday, baby J came face to face with her doppelganger - newbie, baby T! Apart from her little bow, there was little to tell them apart!

On a more serious note, mums appreciated being in a space they find instantly relaxing and soothing. When you come to The Roost for a baby session, it's not like walking into a regular baby group inside. If you feel anxious or uncomfortable being in rooms with lots of parents you don't know, then being at the Roost with Little Bats Learning CIC helps tonnes. There's lots of space for all, with all sorts of opportunities for babies to explore and play.

We had a couple of weeks leave after a very full on Summer delivering the HAF programme and lots of family activities at The Roost at Bright Meadows, only to discover that emails have been bouncing back from our main email address hello@littlebatslearning.org.

IF YOU HAVE EMAILED US ON THAT EMAIL THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS, WE HAVEN'T RECEIVED IT UNFORTUNATELY. PLEASE SEND IT AGAIN OR WHATSAPP US ON 07818925678.

In the meantime, we are off to tomorrow for their official lunch event - come along and have some fun/find out what's on there. You can find out all about our various events and sessions happening in the next few weeks.

Without our volunteers, Little Bats Learning CIC really would not be where it is today. They are the backbone of our social enterprise - whether they're helping with prepping, cooking, assisting, or just generally being great role models for the children we work with. All this, often with a lot going on either health-wise, personally or with their own families.

We are going to make a series of daily appreciation posts, highlighting their individual contributions, and to recognise them.

Today, we start with Craig Choda .Craig has relatively recently started supporting sessions with Little Bats. One key part of being a forest school leader (or assistant) is to model positive behaviours, and also to experience what children experience - especially going out of our comfort zones to stretch and develop ourselves. Craig has got really stuck in, modelling what to and what not to do - showing children how to climb trees, get stuck and then have to use his resourcefulness to get down again. Children connect with Craig, and appreciate him being on their level - although he will engage his adult head when necessary.

Thank you Craig - you have been a star. We look forward to working with you more.

Thank you so much to Meghan - Morrisons Harwood Community Champion for coming to meet us at The Roost at Bright Meadows this lunch time. Meghan seemed very surprised to find such a hidden gem behind all the houses, having lived a few streets away previously.

Their donation to Little Bats Learning CIC will help us to carry on working with the children and families in our local community, providing opportunities to play, learn and grow.

Thank you Headspace Bolton for coming to our after school club, to see how we roll. It's 'Bin' a pleasure to have you there.

Yup, even though it's not an obvious forest school activity, the new bins we invested in for recycling have provided hours of fun and entertainment in both our after school clubs Wednesday and Thursday at The Roost at Bright Meadows

Look out for some pics coming soon...
