Woohoo!! 🎉 I’ve just been out for a 5.08 mile run this morning and I’ve COMPLETED the (RUN version) Macmillan's Walk 100 Miles in August to raise awareness and some £’s for Macmillan Cancer Support.

It’s not about being a triathlete…it’s about doing some kind of regular exercise to keep your muscles strong, support your joints, improve bone density, and keep you fit and healthy as you get older.

If anyone fancies a 10km race tomorrow evening, then come along after 6pm to register (to start at 7pm).
It’s an out and back along the Cych valley road, so tarmac route, flat and fast(ish). Looks like a lovely evening, and starts/finishes at the Nags Head pub so you can enjoy a bevvy afterwards 🏃‍♀️☀️😮‍💨🍻

💚💚💚 Children at Ysgol Cenarth are wearing green today to encourage awareness of Mental Health Awareness Week. 💚💚💚

The main focus of Mental Health Awareness Week 2024 is MOVEMENT.

Physical inactivity negatively affects both physical and mental health. Research has found that people who are inactive have three times the rate of moderate to severe depression of active people. Regular physical activity can reduce your risk of depression by up to 30% along with other benefits such as increased self-esteem, reduced stress, and improved quality of life.

Our bodies and our minds are connected, so looking after ourselves physically also helps us prevent problems with our mental health. Exercise releases “feel good” hormones, that reduce feelings of stress and anger. It also helps us feel better about our bodies and can improve our sleep too.

We can all find it difficult to be active from time to time, whether it’s down to time, money, finding something that interests you, or the good ol’ British weather.
I love to go running with my dog and i know i feel better physically and mentally afterwards…but i can go through phases where I’m not as active…maybe I’m too busy at home, or the dark nights have crept in, or the weathers too bad, but it’s important i find ways to overcome these periods of inactivity.

If you’re finding it difficult to be active or you’re living with a condition that makes it difficult to be active, then Physiotherapy may be beneficial for you. Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss it further or book an appointment.
