💜 Lovely patient feedback about our continuity of care team in Skegness 💜

Patient feedback with consent ❤️🥰 the families we look after make it so wholesome and are the entire reason we love what we do. It’s a honour and a privilege ☺️

Hello! I’d just like to leave some feedback following the birth of our daughter, Isla on 27th Oct ‘25. My midwife throughout my whole pregnancy was Georgia and I honestly cannot thank her enough. This was my second pregnancy and I was hoping for a VBAC water birth with minor intervention and I got just that! Georgia was amazing throughout my care and even made it to the birth, my husband said the relief on my face when Georgia arrived during labour was unbelievable - just seeing a familiar, friendly face was all the reassurance I needed. The continuity of care was outstanding and I truly cannot thank Georgia enough - I feel like I’d made a friend for life and I’ll forever remember her kindness. Thank you again Georgia 🥰🩷

✨ My Birth Story – Baby Arthur 💙 ✨

I was induced on 9th October 2025 at 39 weeks, and decided to go with the balloon induction. The balloon came out on its own later that night, and by 8am the next morning my waters were broken. The hormone drip started around half 12, and by 3pm contractions started to build. Then at 8:27pm, our beautiful boy Arthur made his arrival, weighing 6lb 7oz 💙

From start to finish, it was honestly the most positive and special experience. I had my own playlist of all my favourite songs playing through the Bluetooth speakers that the room provided, my birth plan was followed perfectly, and everything felt calm, and safe.

I was quite nervous for my induction after hearing so many horror stories about them but I can honestly say it was nothing like I expected, in the best way! I had no pain at all during the induction, everything went so smoothly, and I had zero complications. Every single midwife I met was so kind, caring, patient and reassuring they genuinely made me feel like I was surrounded by friends, not just staff.

Arthur latched perfectly straight away! 🥹which I was absolutely over the moon about, especially since I really wanted to breastfeed him. He’s doing amazingly well too In just a week he’s already surpassed his birth weight he’s such a happy, content little baby, and I truly believe that’s down to how calm and loving his birth was.

I just want to say a massive thank you to the entire midwifery team you gave me the birth I’d been dreaming of, and made what could have been a really anxious time feel peaceful, safe, and full of love. I’ll never be able to thank you enough. 💗

A huge special thank you to Simone, my amazing midwife (and community midwife!) who also cared for me as my community midwife during my first pregnancy with my daughter Isabella, who I heartbreakingly lost at 35 weeks due to a true knot. Having Simone by my side again to bring Arthur into the world meant absolutely everything to me, she made me feel calm, protected, and so supported through every single moment. 💞

And to Simone’s lovely student midwife, you were such a gentle soul and helped me so much I’ll always remember your kindness. And to Amy, the sweetest night midwife thank you for being so warm, caring, and genuine. You were both truly amazing. 🤍

You all turned something I was once terrified of into one of the most beautiful, empowering, and healing experiences of my life. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. 💫

Baby Arthur – born 10.10.25 💙

💜 Patient Feedback 💜

Hi!
Just wanted to say a huge thank you to the 4 lovely ladies who took care of myself and my partner connor when delivering our daughter 5th September 2025.
I was in on the Thursday morning and didn’t birth our daughter until 8.04am the Friday, via emergency c section.
I was given the lovely Gemma to begin with, and she was assisted by Sian through some of it. Gemma stayed with me until the end of her shift, and I was given Becky! Who was nothing but a chatter box and helped me more than she’d ever know. Jess assisted her on and off and was with me through my epidural procedure and very scary downfall afterwards.
Becky and Jess never got to deliver my baby, as I was whizzed off by 7.30am for a section, at shift changeover and Gemma was then my midwife again, I’m unsure if Gemma was given me as she’d already been with me prior, or if she came because I requested her, due to wanting a familiar face through a scary time, after Becky had to leave. Sian was also in theatre with us and took all of her photos .
She was our 5th baby, and all of us were expecting a fast and straight forward delivery, just like my previous 4, and as Becky kept saying “those 5th babies don’t come to play” 🤣 she sure was correct.
Margot was born healthy and beautiful, after a successful section, at a healthy weight of 7lb and a perfect pair of working lungs.
I hope Gemma and Becky know how valued they were through all of it, and that their faces are burned into my brain forever. And how comforting Jess was through my epidural, I’d never had one before, I was more scared than I let on. She was with me through my downfall after the epi too and was just so soothing with her words. Sian captured some beautiful photos of Margot being born that we’ll cherish for a long time to come.
None of what the maternity team do, will ever go unnoticed and you’ll stay with me for the rest of my days. Thank you so much for helping me deliver a beautiful and healthy baby girl after a scary and upsetting delivery and recovery with my previous baby. You’ll have no idea just how much hearing her cry lifted so many fears from inside of me. Becky came back after Margot’s birth to wish me a congratulations. Honestly, I can’t thank any of you enough.
Gemma, Becky, Jess and Sian, thank you so much. And thank you to the surgery team who were so fantastic and reassuring through my first section delivery.

Love, Amy and Connor 🩷

Each month we will also share the top 5 reasons for induction and caesarean for that month as we often get a lot of questions about this.

For September:
Top 5 reasons for induction -
1. Post dates (10%)
2. Prolonged rupture of membranes (8% )
3. Diabetes (8%)
4. Blood pressure issues (6%)
5. Abnormal doppler/larger baby/reduced movements/smaller baby (4% each)

What is a VBAC?
It stands for ‘Vaginal birth after a caesarean’. It includes any type of vaginal birth following a caesarean in a previous birth.
We hope this will answer some of your questions.

Congratulations to all our families who welcomed new babies in September. Did you have a baby in September? 💜

💜 Vaccines in Pregnancy 💉

Some vaccines, such as the inactivated seasonal flu vaccine, are recommended in pregnancy to protect the health of you and your baby. An inactivated vaccine does not contain a live version of the virus it is protecting against.

During pregnancy, your immune system is weakened to protect the pregnancy. This means you’re less able to fight off infections.

It is recommended that all pregnant women are offered the following vaccines:

🦠Flu
Pregnant women are more likely to get flu complications (such as pneumonia), that people are not pregnant, and you are more likely to admitted to hospital. Having the vaccine means you’re less likely to get flu, or if you do catch flu, it’s less likely to be as severe.

🦠 Whooping Cough
Whooping cough can be a very serious infection, and young babies are most at risk. Most babies wi the whooping cough will be admitted to hospital.

When you have the whooping cough vaccine during pregnancy, your body produces antibodies to protect against the virus. These antibodies then pass through the placenta to the baby giving them high levels of protection, until they can have their own vaccine at 8 weeks old.

Having your vaccine before 32 weeks pregnant will give your baby the best protection, but you can have it any time after 20 weeks.

🦠RSV
Respiratory syncytial virus is a common virus that causes coughs and colds. It usually gets better by itself, but it can be serious for babies.

RSV can cause serious lung infections which make it difficult for babies to breathe and feed.

When you have the RSV vaccine in pregnancy, the protection from the vaccine is passed to your baby. This means your baby is less likely yo get severe RSV for the first 6 months after they’re born.

You can have this vaccine after 28 weeks pregnant.

🤰🏻 Speak to your midwife if you need any more information.

💉All these vaccines will be offered to you in pregnancy and can be given during your appointment or you can drop in:
- In antenatal clinic at Pilgrim Monday- Fridays 9-5pm
-Spalding antenatal clinics on Tuesdays and Thursdays 9-4pm
