Do you get enough vitamin D in the winter?
Vitamin D is crucial for health, our bodies produce it when sunlight converts a chemical in our skin to its active form.
During winter, sunlight is limited, especially in regions far from the equator, reducing vitamin D production.
Factors like cloud cover, shorter days, and indoor lifestyles further decrease sun exposure.
Consequently, many people experience vitamin D deficiency in winter, leading to weakened bones, impaired immunity, and increased risk of certain diseases.
To combat this, one can increase vitamin D intake through diet by consuming fatty fish, egg yolks, and fortified foods.
Supplements are also a common and effective way to maintain adequate levels during winter!
