The childhood vaccination programme helps protect babies and children from a range of serious illnesses at the stages when they are most vulnerable. These vaccines are carefully scheduled as part of the NHS Childhood Vaccination Programme to provide protection as your child grows.

Vaccinations help protect against illnesses such as:

◾𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘀

◾𝗠𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀

◾𝗪𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵

◾𝗠𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮

Most parents will automatically receive invitations when their child’s vaccinations are due. Attending these appointments helps ensure your child stays protected and also helps protect other babies, children and vulnerable people in the community.

The Think Pharmacy First approach encourages people to use community pharmacies as a first point of contact for common conditions. Under the NHS Pharmacy First service, trained pharmacists can offer advice, treatment, and in some cases prescriptions, without needing to see a GP first.

Pharmacies may be able to help with:

𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲

𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀

𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗼

𝗦𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗮𝘁

𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, provided by a pharmacist without a prescription or needing to see a GP

Choosing pharmacy first can mean faster care, expert advice, and more availability for GP appointments for those who need them most.

Your local pharmacy is there to help. Take care and choose the option that feels right for you.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗞.

Prostate Cancer Awareness Month is an important opportunity to raise awareness of prostate health and encourage conversations that many people find difficult to start. Prostate cancer often has no early symptoms, which is why awareness and timely checks matter.

You may be at higher risk if you:

𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟱𝟬

𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 of prostate cancer

𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆, as risk is higher in these groups

Common symptoms, when they do occur, can include changes in urination, difficulty starting or stopping, or needing to go more often, especially at night.

For clear, trusted information and support, Prostate Cancer UK provides guidance on symptoms, risk, and testing.

If you have concerns or would like to talk through prostate checks or PSA testing, please contact the practice to discuss your options or to ask any questions. Having the conversation early can make a real difference.

Looking after your health is important at every stage of life. Take care and reach out if you need support.

This week is Nutrition, Hydration and Wellbeing Week, a good opportunity to reflect on the small choices that support our physical and mental health. What we eat and drink fuels our bodies, supports our mood, and helps us stay well.

Simple ways to support your wellbeing include:

◾𝗘𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 with a balance of fruit, vegetables, protein and wholegrains

◾𝗗𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗶𝗱𝘀 throughout the day, especially water

◾𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘀 and high salt foods where possible

◾𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝘁 mindfully and notice how food makes you feel

If you are looking for practical, trustworthy advice, NHS Better Health and One You Lincolnshire offer guidance on healthy eating, hydration, and small changes that can fit into everyday life.

Wellbeing is not about being perfect. Small, consistent steps can add up over time. Be gentle with yourself and take care.

𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘀𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀.

Screening Awareness is a reminder of how important routine checks are in finding cancer early, when treatment is most effective. Many screening programmes are offered automatically, but it can be easy to miss an invite or feel unsure about what to expect.

Current NHS screening programmes include:

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 risk checks and PSA discussions

𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 health checks for people at higher risk

𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 (smear tests)

𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 screening

𝗕𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 screening kits sent by post

Feeling informed and prepared can make screening feel much less daunting. Reliable information and patient friendly explanations are also available from Cancer Research UK and Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust.

Screening is about looking after yourself for the future. Take things at your own pace and reach out if you need reassurance or clarity.

𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗹𝘂𝘅𝘂𝗿𝘆, 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵.

This week marks Sleep Awareness Week, a chance to pause and reflect on how well we are really sleeping and why it matters. Good quality sleep supports both physical and mental wellbeing and can make a real difference to how we feel day to day.

Getting enough rest can help:

◾𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and memory

◾𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 and mood

◾𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 work effectively

◾𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 of long term health problems

If sleep has been difficult recently, you are not alone. Many people experience disrupted sleep due to stress, routine changes, or health concerns.

You may find practical tips and support through NHS Every Mind Matters, which offers guidance on improving sleep and managing worries that can keep you awake at night.

Small changes can add up over time. Be patient with yourself and take things one step at a time. 💙

March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, an important time to raise awareness of symptoms that are often mistaken for everyday digestive or hormonal changes.

Symptoms to be aware of include:

◾𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴

◾𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝘆 or loss of appetite

◾𝗣𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗰 or abdominal pain

◾𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 more urgently or more often

These symptoms are common, but if they are new, persistent, and happening most days, it is important to seek medical advice. Early diagnosis can significantly improve outcomes.

Further information and support are available from Ovarian Cancer Action, including symptom checkers and patient resources.

If something does not feel right, trust your instincts and seek advice. Looking after your health starts with being informed and being kind to yourself.
