Our Story
I worked within the family farm before training as an osteopath. I was particularly drawn to the combination of medical knowledge with a practical, holistic, hands-on approach to helping people. I spent the next 5 years studying for my osteopathy degree in London. I’m very proud to have achieved a Bachelor of Osteopathy Honours (First Class) degree whilst juggling the demands of a family, farm and clinic.
My own health journey started in my teens, I suffered intense pain due to a condition called endometriosis. This meant that in later years I was to struggle to have a family. This has given me a real understanding of many health issues and wide experience of other complementary and alternative health approaches in my search for optimum health.
Modern Osteopathy is a wonderfully gentle, highly-skilled, hands-on therapy developed by an American doctor frustrated by the limitations of conventional medicine; particularly the side-effects and toxicity of drugs. Something most people can relate to these days. Osteopaths are true musculo-skeletal specialists, with a high level of clinical and neurological assessment skills, anatomy, physiology and pathology knowledge. After 4-5 years of degree training, osteopaths have an incredibly subtle level of palpation and are able to detect and treat imbalances, tensions and strains. Osteopathy aims to stimulate the body's own healing capacities to find health, holistically.
I consider myself to be lucky that now my family is complete I can manage my pain to more acceptable levels. The chronic pain has been a huge motivating factor for me. It is my philosophy to promote good health and practice to empower people to make lifestyle choices to help manage their pain and get them back on track.
