Bourne2Shine Support group for Parent Carers of children with Special Educational Needs(SEN)-Bourne & surroundings

Bourne2shine is a community support group for families of children with disabilities and special educational needs living in or attending school in Bourne. We aim to provide emotional and practical support to our parents facing these unique challenges, both through our private Facebook group and at in-person events. We offer the vital opportunity to socialise with similar families at weekly coffee mornings, monthly tea time clubs, and seasonal events and parties. We aim to provide all events to our families for free to help alleviate the financial burden we know they can face. We also give support with form filling, advice, and signposting to ensure our families receive all the help they need. Our aim is to ensure no local families with children with disabilities ever feel alone.

Mythbusting 👇

❌ Myth: Your child needs a diagnosis before you can apply for an EHC needs assessment (the first step to getting an EHC plan).

✅ Fact: A diagnosis is not required. The legal test sets a relatively low threshold, and parents or carers can apply for an EHC needs assessment themselves if they think their child has, or may have, SEN, and they may need special educational provision to be made through an EHC plan.
