C L O S E D for the next 2 months. Unfortunately I’m unable to provide reflexology treatments for the foreseeable future as I’m having operations and reconstructive surgery on my thumb. I’m hoping that in a few months and after physio I’ll be able to start again. In the meantime I will be in touch with all my existing clients and if you are looking for a reflexologist, the association of reflexologists has a list of all your local, accredited ones: https://www.aor.org.uk/custom/far-search/

👣 F A Q S 👣 HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE REFLEXOLOGY?

Everyone is different. There are so many reasons for seeking reflexology treatments. If you are trying reflexology to help with a particular issue, we recommend having a treatment once a week or once every 2 weeks until you begin to notice any subtle changes.

Once your body has responded you might feel able to manage with monthly sessions or as and when you feel the need. It is entirely up to you and your body. There are no rules.

During my training and in the years since, I was told that after 6 reflexology sessions the person will begin to notice improvements. This seems to be the magic number as it takes a while for the benefits of reflexology to become apparent even though all the while it's working its magic and helping the body's healing process. Once you are in tune with your body, you will know when you need to book your next treatment.

I am happy to see you daily, weekly, monthly or yearly- whatever works for you❤️

💫M E N ' S . H E A L T H . O F F E R - £ 1 0 . O F F!💫 It's Men's Health Week this week- 13th-19th June. This year the focus is on taking stock of your overall health. Men's Health Week is designed to educate and share information about services and treatments available to men to live healthy, enriched lives. As a reflexologist, I would say 95% of my clients are female. The few male clients I have take their health seriously and see how reflexology benefits their overall health. Many of them, just like my female clients, have stressful jobs or physically demanding jobs which takes a toll on the body and mind. I would love to see more men willing to try reflexology and see it as a great support for their health and well-being. I realise that I am posting this towards the end of MHW. To try and promote Men's Health and reflexology I am offering a £10 discount for all male clients for the rest of June 2022. So... if you are a man who hasn't yet tried reflexology, or a lover of reflexology already, please get in touch and book yourself an hour of relaxation today! Or...if you know a man who could benefit from some reflexology please pass this on🙏🏻

👣W H Y R E F L E X O L O G Y?👣 Reflexology can help you deal with stress better and support your body’s natural ability to heal itself. It is a deeply relaxing treatment that should leave you feeling calm, relaxed and lighter on your feet;) Many people like a firm pressure but if you are suffering with physical pain, hard pressure could be too much. Your reflexologist will use light pressure and soothing techniques that still touch all the reflexology points and help the whole body relax. It can be a great complementary therapy used alongside medical treatments to help support the healing process. By helping the body to relax, cortisol levels are reduced and healing becomes easier. It can bring about much needed relaxation and reprieve when experiencing pain. If you’re in need of some relaxation on any level, reflexology could be exactly what you need ❤️

🧓F A C I A L . R E F L E X O L O G Y can help increase blood flow & circulation in the face. It can help reduce facial stress, tension & the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It can boost collagen production and plumps, lifts and rejuvenates the skin giving it a healthy, youthful glow. It can be particularly beneficial if you grind your teeth or have TMJ as the jaw muscles are worked during the treatment. It's an extremely relaxing treatment that stimulates reflexology points on the face.

I am trained in the Bergman method of reflexology and offer it as a stand alone treatment or combined with foot reflexology.

R E F L E X O L O G Y . F O R . R U N N E R S Whatever your level of running - just starting, sporadic fun- runner, mud - runner, long time morning runner, marathon runner or serious athlete, you must pay attention to your feet. Our feet take the full force of our weight which increases to 10X our body weight when we run. We can feel stiffness, joint pain or a build up of lactic acid in our feet that can lead to plantar faciitis, neuromas or tendonitis, often requiring surgery. Running is not only a cardiovascular work out but also great for our muscular, respiratory, circulatory, endocrine and lymphatic systems. The whole body is used.

How does reflexology help?
Reflexology isn't just a foot massage. It does not just alleviate the pains in our feet but also addresses imbalances we have in other areas of of our bodies. Specifically for runners, reflexology can:

- EASE PAIN
- REDUCE INFLAMMATION - leading to faster recovery time
- IMPROVE STAMINA - when the body is fully rested and recharged, the body works at optimum level
- BOOST IMMUNE SYSTEM - a healthy immune system speeds up the body's natural ability to heal
- REDUCE BLOOD PRESSURE
- IMPROVE CIRCULATION - improving circulation to injured areas removes toxins (lactic acid) faster and supplies more oxygen & nutrients to exerted muscles which can help improve cramps and aches. Build up of lactic acid can cause pain and reduce performance.
- IMPROVES SLEEP - studies about sports recovery show rest, sleep & relaxation are key to recovery

"The most powerful recovery tool known to science is sleep. It may sound boring, and few people get it right, but if athletes truly prioritise sleep they can see amazing benefits." (Christie Aschwanden - www.theguardian.com/sport/apr/21/the-secrets-of-sports-recovery)

Reflexology is an enjoyable, non-invasive therapy that relaxes the whole body, not just the feet. It helps rebalance the cardio, skeletal & muscular systems and improve circulation which speeds up the natural healing process and removes lactic acid quicker. The whole body will feel looser and lighter when in a relaxed state. Reflexology before and after running can have beneficial effects to your performance.

🏥H E A L T H . I N S U R A N C E🏥 - If you have private health/medical insurance , did you know you could claim for some or all of your reflexology treatment costs? If you have a healthcare benefits plan or already claim for your dental or optical costs, you may be entitled to claim for reflexology as well. Check your policy as many healthcare providers list reflexology as a treatment they cover. Make sure your reflexologist is a member of a reflexology organisation, either AOR, FHT or CNHC. (The Insurance companies do check if the reflexologist is fully registered). After you have paid for your treatment, make sure you obtain a receipt with the reflexologist's name, address and amount paid along with their membership number. This is sufficient for the insurance company. They will then reimburse you all or part of the cost. There is an annual limit on how much you can claim for, each policy is different so check it out. A little is better than none :) x

S T R E S S - This April is Stress Awareness Month. Stress is one of the major problems of modern society today. It is directly responsible for so many modern diseases. Continuous exposure to stress slowly erodes the body’s immune system which can end up causing various health disorders. When the body is relaxed and stress free, the body’s muscles aren’t so tight and tissues, veins, capillaries and lymph system are loosened so everything can flow freely and unblocked throughout the body. This helps the body eliminate waste products easily and efficiently. If the body is stressed, everything tightens up blocking the usually free flowing channels so the waste products stay in our systems for longer and restrict the space available for new nutrients thereby also reducing our energy. Stress can be the underlying cause of heart disease, obesity, digestive problems, psoriasis to name but a few. It can also affect our mental well-being and bring about depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, eating disorders etc. Of course being a reflexologist I would heartedly recommend reflexology to reduce stress as it is a treatment that promotes relaxation. However many people will also benefit from professional help as the experts will know what steps you need to take to deal with the stress in your life. If you are struggling with stress or know someone who is and needs help are some organisations:

🦶🌍E A R T H I N G / G R O U N D I N G 🌏🦶🏽is the transferral of the earth’s energy from the ground to our bodies. This occurs when we walk barefoot outside and are in contact with the earth’s surface electrons. There is evidence to show the earth’s electrons have a variety of therapeutic health benefits such as improved sleep, decrease in stress and cortisol levels, improved blood flow and respiration etc. It increases leg strength and stability of leg and ankle muscles and ligaments as well as improving foot movement and helps keep the knees and hips in alignment. There has also been a decrease in foot issues such as bunions, Morton’s neuromas, hammer toes etc which can be caused by restrictive footwear. This is interesting to me as a reflexologist as I have read studies that compared barefoot and shoe- wearing cultures. They show that we have different foot shapes and that many shoe-wearing people have weakened arches and leg muscles which control the foot’s movement.
Our feet ground us literally and figuratively. So…take off your shoes and socks and feel the earth under your feet-you will feel better;) These are my dirty feet last weekend at my allotment going barefoot, lots of soap required afterwards…
