What is CBT and is it for me?
CBT works on four different areas and how they link/influence each other: thoughts (what we think), behaviours (what we do), feelings (emotions and feelings) and physical (what's happening in our bodies). We work together to look for patterns and challenge the underlying assumptions. By making small changes it is possible to start breaking the cycles.
Sometimes breaking a big and overwhelming task into smaller more manageable tasks can mean that instead of avoiding and feeling overwhelmed you feel empowered to start. Instead of tidying the whole kitchen just choose one shelf/drawer and start with that. Often just starting is the hardest part!
