So finally I have got to the start line of the Tokyo Marathon 2025. After a long journey of a mountain bike crash and subsequent spinal surgery. I have managed to get match fit this time. One year on after my first ever DNS last year. Thank you to Emad Shenouda. The surgeon.

Another storm is imminent and so it puts us on high alert as to whether it’ll be safe to host Poole parkrun this Saturday. We will do a safety check as early as we can on Saturday morning (bearing in mind it’s pretty dark in the mornings at silly o’clock). So please be patient and we will let you know via social media as soon as we know…..

⚠️STORM DARRAGH⚠️
We are keeping a close eye on the weather.
If there is still a forecast of strong winds for Saturday as currently forecast our event is at risk of being cancelled. With large areas of woodland on our course it’s just not safe. There’s high risk of branches and falling trees.

We do everything we can to go ahead but the safety of our volunteers, runners and walkers is always our top priority.

Having secured a charity place for Tokyo 2024. I then had a MTB crash and subsequent spinal surgery and had to give up my place. Tokyo don’t allow medical deferrals. But through the 6 star ballot I have been given a place for 2025. All I have to do now is get back my marathon legs 🏃🏼 and lungs 🫁.
