For the past seven and a half years I have been a Virtual Assistant, supporting entrepreneurs on their journey to building their dream business. They come to me when they find themselves struggling with overload and they finally admit they can't do it all on their own and they need support. This is important to me because not only am I a first class organiser, but I love supporting entrepreneurs and helping them get back on track, building and growing their business.

Before my clients work with me, they are often overwhelmed, struggling under the burden of having to take care of all the admin, organising their diary and emails, while at the same time trying to find their dream clients, and navigating their way through all of that to be able to grow their business.

By working with me, my clients hand over all the onerous and time consuming tasks that they don't have time for and generally don't enjoy. They know that I can take care of these and this frees them up to get on with meeting clients, growing their business and focusing on their passions.

I want to see more entrepreneurs stepping into their power and growing their businesses. So many small business owners are selling themselves short and struggling to do it all themselves, when they just need the right support to help them get to the next level.

I left the corporate world 5 years ago and I have frankly never looked back. Yes, being self-employed has had its challenges but there is nothing like the sense of achievement when I overcome those challenges. The challenges I had when I was employed were insignificant in comparison and the sense of success on overcoming them was also mimimal and unrewarding. Additionally, in the corporate world there is nothing like the recognition I get now.

I love the flexibility that being self-employed brings me, along with the ability to choose who I work with, when and where I work, and never having to ask permission to be away from my desk for a morning, and I love it!

However I was shocked to read over the weekend just how many people in the UK are frankly so miserable at work. When we spend so much of our lives working isn't it a shame to be miserable at work? Wouldn't it be so much better to love what you do, starting each day with a sense of purpose and excitement and ending each day with a sense of satisfaction and achievement?

You can't build an organisation without loyalty, and loyalty has to be earned. I wish I could tell you everything will always be plain sailing, but I can't. But what I can tell you is that the people who stay loyal to you are the ones you invest your time in. So invest wisely!
