We have continued to make the most of the lovely weather this afternoon by spending more time in the garden.
We have used a number of items such as ice cream cones, peanut butter, bird seed and pipe cleaners to create some bird feeders to tempt some wildlife into the garden.
It has been a lovely afternoon with lots of laughter

Yesterday we celebrated with Bill as he turned 93 🎈
Bill spent time with his family, who made the most of the lovely weather, and took Bill for a walk around a local park
This was followed by celebrations with residents and staff as Bill was presented with a personalised cake made by our talented chef.
We hope you enjoyed your special day 🎉

Weather like today is too good to waste ☀️
Today we have made the most of the lovely weather by taking our activities outside.
We started the day with a lovely sunny walk around the community taking in the sights of spring flowers. This afternoon we carried out games in the garden where there was lots of laughter and encouragement during tin can alley.
Spending time outside not only lifts our spirits but encourages movement and social interactions. We can't wait to enjoy more of this lovely weather 🌼

Happy Easter from everyone at Handsworth.
Residents received a vist from a special guest yesterday who didn't come empty handed. The Easter bunny delivered easters eggs to each resident along with a small chocolate bar and cards from 6th Altrincham Brownies
This was followed by a delicious Easter Monday buffet consisting of sandwiches and pastries along with a colourful avocado and watermelon salad all washed down with a glass of prosecco 🥂🐣

We have had a lovely couple of days enjoying Easter activities and brighter days. A number of our residents enjoyed one of their first walks round the garden this week where we enjoyed taking in the spring flowers.
We also spent some time baking a simnel cake to be enjoyed after our Easter roast dinner on sunday. We also spent some time carrying out an easter egg hunt where some of our residents sgowed their competetive side. We slowed down this afternoon with a simple arts and crafts session where we used different materials to create our own easter egg pictures

All our chicks have hatched and have now been named. Both residents and staff have spent time today cuddling our fluffy friends and naming them. To tell them apart each chick has been given a different coloured dot kn their head. It has been a lovely day of cuddling and reminiscing. Animal therapy is a great way for residents to reminisce about their own pets from younger years and also bring comfort through their calming nature. We are looking forward to the next week with our feathered friends 🐣

We have some Egg-citing guests this week at Handsworth.
Each year over Easter we enjoy hatching and caring for chicks. The living eggs arrived this morninh and should start hatching as early as wednesday. We are looking forward to spending tine with the chicks over the next couple of weeks before they are returned to live their lives on approved farms 🐣

Have you ever flown to Switzerland through the valleys, then onto Australia and under Sydney Harbour bridge then back home in time for lunch?
That is exactly what our lovely resident Dot did this morning in a flight simulator.
After a recent conversation with Dot she had told me how it had always been her dream to fly a plane so with our Sieze the day programme at MHA we made it happen.
We were met by Tom, who was Dot's co-pilot, who went through the controls and a brief explination about the British Airways Boeing 747. Dot took to the skies, taking off from Manchester airport we enjoyed the views of Switzerland where Dot spoke about her love for sking then onto Australia where Dot again spoke about her love for Sydney and how it was one of the nicest places she has visited.
It was an amazing experience and one i am sure Dot will be talking about for a long time 🛫👩‍✈️

Everyone at Handsworth would like to wish a truely wonderful gentleman a Happy 90th Birthday 🎂🎉
John kicked off his birthday celebrations on Saturday with family who travelled from all over the country to be with him to celebrate the special occasion and what a truely lovely afternoon it was.
This was followed by celebrations in the home today with all our residents, as John was presented with a personalised cake.
Many happy returns to you on your special day 🎈

Happy Birthday to a lovely lady, Joan 💐

Joan has enjoyed a lovely day with visits from family and friends, along with gifts of flowers and chocolates from all at Handsworth. Joan was also presented with a lovely cake prepared by our talented chef Amanda.

This afternoon we enjoyed a vist from Jo at The Himos Hub.
Jo brought a number of different Easter craft activities that tested our residents motor skills from winding wool to create pompom chicks to gluing and sticking tissue to create their very own stain glass window crosses.
Activities like these create memories and encourage social interaction along with a sense of pride for the crafts that were created.
We are looking forward to our next session with The Himos Hub 🐣
