Look who’s back! 🐾
​We had a very special visit from the lovely Sue Lucas of Dogs for Good (Banbury), who brought the handsome Harry in to see us. We couldn't believe our eyes—he’s grown so much in just four weeks!
​Harry spent the morning handing out cuddles and melting hearts. He is such a gentle soul with the kindest eyes, and our residents were absolutely thrilled to spend some quality time with him.
​Sue shared that his training is going brilliantly, and she’s confident he’s on his way to becoming a fantastic ambassador for the charity. We’re just happy to be part of his journey!

Eyes down for a full house! ☕️✨
​There’s nothing quite like a morning of coffee, cake, and a friendly game of Bingo to bring everyone together. With Richard on fine form calling the numbers, the room went from chatting to total focus in record time!
​Big congratulations to our winners:
​Rosemary, who scooped up the prize for the first line.
​Daphne, who took home the Full House!
​They were thrilled with their prizes (biscuits and chocolate!), but as Rosemary says: "It’s all about the fun of taking part." True to the community spirit, she was sharing her winnings with her table before the ink was even dry on her card.
​The best part of the morning wasn’t the prizes, though—it was seeing everyone look out for one another, helping neighbours mark their cards and making sure no one missed a number. As Pip put it: "It’s good to get your brain working!"

New Memories at the Old Fire Station! ☕️🚒
​We recently took two wonderful trips over to the revamped Old Fire Station in Brackley—a morning outing for the gents and an afternoon treat for the ladies.
​Despite the grey, drizzly skies, the atmosphere inside was anything but gloomy. With hot chocolates, steaming coffees, and tea in hand, the café was soon filled with the gentle hum of laughter and great conversation.
​It was fascinating to hear our residents compare the "then and now" of the building. The sleek new look sparked plenty of friendly debate and "I remember when..." moments across the tables!
​Highlight of the day: Jean admitted she wasn't sure what to expect and found it hard to leave her cozy armchair on such a cold day—but she came back absolutely glowing, saying how pleasantly surprised she was.
​It’s a lovely reminder that even when the weather isn’t tempting, a change of scenery and some good company are the best ways to lift the spirits.

Spreading Smiles & Shortbread! 🍪✨
​For , our residents take the lead! This year, our wonderful ambassadors—May, Janet, and Tina—decided to bring a little sweetness to the neighborhood.
​With May’s walker serving as the perfect delivery tray, the trio set off for Brackley Medical Centre and the Community Hospital. They hand-delivered delicious, home-made shortbread (baked with love by our incredible kitchen team) to hardworking staff and patients.
​"I enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people," May shared. "They were so grateful and surprised!"
​It’s amazing how a small, unexpected gesture can strengthen our community and brighten someone’s day. A huge thank you to our ladies for making kindness the norm!

Laughter, Games, and a Special Guest! 🎲☕
​Our twice-monthly Memory Café was once again the place to be! We had a wonderful, lively afternoon filled with friendly competition over dominoes, ludo, puzzles, and "shut the box." Of course, no session is complete without a delicious spread of sandwiches, cakes, and biscuits to keep us going. 🍰🥪
​We were also delighted to welcome our Local MP, Sarah Bool, for an impromptu visit. Sarah is such an active member of our community, and she even lent her beautiful voice to our end-of-day singalong! Thank you, Sarah—we always truly enjoy your visits.

🎂 A Berry Special Birthday for Susan! 🍓
​Celebrations were in order this week as we gathered to celebrate Susan’s birthday in style!
​Our talented chef pulled out all the stops, creating a stunning Victoria sponge overflowing with jam and fresh cream, topped with vibrant summer berries and a decadent chocolate drizzle. It was a masterpiece that tasted even better than it looked 😋
​Susan was showered with love all day. A highlight was a visit from her husband, who joined everyone in the Rainbow Lounge for a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday."
​With a little help from her friends and family, Susan blew out her candles to cheers and applause.
​Susan wanted to share a big thank you to everyone for her lovely card and the delicious cake. It was a truly joyful afternoon and the perfect way to celebrate such a wonderful lady.

The Maypole Café is about to get a whole lot brighter! 🐉✨
​At our recent Arts and Crafts session with Mirjam and Louise there was a whirlwind of colour and sparkle as our residents began preparing for the upcoming Chinese Lunar Year.
​Each resident traced their hand to create a unique dragon scale, layering on gems, gold accents, and plenty of glitter. While every design was different, they’re all coming together to form one magnificent festival dragon!
​Highlights of the day:
​Mary, who initially claimed she "wasn't very artistic," ended up creating one of the most dazzling scales of the bunch! It’s a wonderful reminder that it’s all about enjoying the process and being part of something bigger.
​Margaret took on the official title of “Glitter Queen,” ensuring every scale had the perfect amount of shimmer. 👑
​Look out for the finished dragon in the Maypole Café this week, where it will join our detailed Chinese zodiac horse designs!

🎹 A Legacy in Every Note: Welcome Mo’s Piano
​We are so honoured to welcome a very special addition to Brackley Care Home—a beautiful Yamaha piano with a heart-warming history.
​This instrument belonged to the late Maureen “Mo” Fairbairn, a wonderful nurse and talented musician who dedicated her life to making others smile. Originally bought for her by her husband, Frank, while they lived in Hong Kong, this piano has travelled across the world and filled many lives with joy.
​Mo passed away in 2020, and her dear friend has now gifted this treasure to our residents. We are deeply moved to keep Mo’s passion for music alive within our home. 🎶❤️
We had a visitor who could not resist lifting the lid of Mo's piano and tinkling the ivories . His verdict? "She plays beautifully!"
