Everyone’s favourite exercise! 😉

Burpees - broken down into progressive levels

⬆️A variation of a burpeee called an ‘up down’. This preserves energy and allows you to shorten your range of motion to make movement easier 🙌

🔀 Full burpee with a step-in rather than a jump. This variation we see a lot in Hyrox - great for pacing yourself and conserving energy, whilst hitting a full range of
motion 🙆‍♂️

⬇️ Full burpee. Great for higher intensity as we hit a full jump up to keep the movement explosive. This is also the most taxing so beware😅

If you think you can’t do a burpee, try one of these variations and progress when you feel ready😁

Taking the guesswork away💡

Last Saturday’s we held a HYROX seminar & session - it was a brilliant morning with members and non-members

We started by breaking down what HYROX is all about - the event structure, how it runs, and what each station involves

A huge part of the morning came from some members who’ve already completed the event

Their tips, experience and insights made it even more valuable for everyone 👏

After the seminar, we put everything into practice with a focus on technique, pacing and how to approach each station

Thank you to all for coming - contributing, learning and supporting each other is what made the session💪

A special message from a special lady🙌

Also known as ‘Mum’ to , Carol has had an incredible journey since joining us

From never lifting a barbell before, she is now squatting 85kg, deadlifting 77.5kg & bench pressing all within 18 months🤩

We also re structured her nutrition habits, resulting in a sustainable 7.5kg weight loss😎

Shoulder injury?

Here are the most common errors we see with people training their rotator cuff and the corrections we recommend

❌Using dumbbells when standing. This puts a large load on a bicep isometric, over the load of prioritising the rotator cuff activation
☑️ A side lying dumbbell external rotation is a lot more effective

❌ Allowing the arm to come too far away from the ribs. This engages our deltoids and abduction muscle groups
☑️ By pinning a towel or a squat pad between your elbow and ribs, it keeps your elbow tucked in and isolates the shoulder into external rotation.

❌ Only training the rotator cuff in one range
☑️ By moving into 90 degrees of abduction we expose the rotator cuff even more and is a great progression for the muscle group over just making it heavier!

Team trek at Salcey Forest 🌲☀️

strided out with the team last Saturday - it was great to see familiar faces, new members, and a couple of four-legged friends join the walk🐾

We were lucky enough to have great weather☀️

It was an awesome day to connect off the gym floor, have a laugh and sneak in a bit of food along the way☕️🧁

Progress looks different for everyone, but only by being being consistent and dedicated will those goals be achieved

Stew has been training with us for a few months now and has accomplished things he never had

👉 Training 2-3x per week
👉 managing his busy work schedule
👉 working with health issues
👉 being dedicated and travelling
