Have you got an idea that could help your community? ✨

Wokingham Borough are launching the Sparks Community Award - offering grants of Β£100 to Β£2000 for projects that help people feel more connected and included in Wokingham Borough.

They're looking for ideas that support adults who may need extra help due to disability, health conditions or caring responsibilities to:
Live in a place they call home 🏑
Lead the lives they want to lead πŸ’«
Be part of communities where everyone belongs 🀝

Your idea could be a community cooking class or a neighbourhood supper club, a games or sports club – or something completely new.

They especially want to hear from people who've never applied for funding before. The application is simple, and funding decisions are made by local residents, not by the Council.

Applications open from today, 11 February and will be reviewed on a quarterly basis throughout the year.

We're hiring!

Community Development Worker

In this role, you will work across Wokingham Borough to assist small charities, community groups and social enterprises who have a health and well-being focus, as well as those organisations who aid residents with protected characteristics.

They will assist organisations to find solutions to existing challenges and overcome barriers to optimise their delivery, eg. through sourcing volunteers, committee members, funding opportunities, forming simple governance structures, and seeking premises.

The post holder will advocate for members of the community with protected characteristics as well as those whose voices are seldom heard, and act as a voice for marginalised groups, to aid inclusive decision making and delivery of services across the borough.
