Simple Tips for Healthy Smiles 😄

We asked our dentists for simple tips you can all easily follow and which will help you get into good dental habits. Looking after your teeth doesn’t have to be complicated and sometimes it’s the small changes that will make the biggest difference💙.

The following 5 top tips can be shared with your family and can be tried by kids and adults alike 😁:

1️⃣ Wait 30 minutes after eating before brushing.

Acidic foods (like fruit or juice) can soften enamel — brushing too soon can actually cause damage. Waiting gives your enamel time to recover. ⏳🍊

2️⃣ Spit, don’t rinse!

After brushing, spit out the toothpaste foam but don’t rinse with water — this helps the fluoride stay on your teeth longer for extra protection. 💧

3️⃣ Change your toothbrush 🪥 every 3 months.

Old, frayed bristles don’t clean effectively. A fresh brush (or head if electric) helps keep your teeth and gums healthy.

4️⃣ Watch out for hidden sugars!

Juices, sauces, and even yoghurts can contain hidden sugars. Check the labels - your teeth 🦷 will thank you. 🍫➡️🥦

5️⃣ Visit your dentist regularly even if nothing hurts.

Prevention is key! Regular check-ups help spot small issues before they become big problems. 👩‍⚕️🦷

Martin has sent us this glowing Google Review for Dr Christy Tam:

“For the second time in 3 years, I needed a wisdom tooth extraction. Having the first performed by Dr Christy which I could not fault I requested her again. Apart from explaining everything so clearly, she carried out the work to the highest standard I've ever experienced and am left with no pain & virtually no discomfort as soon as the anaesthetic wore off. Pretty amazing considering it’s the hardest extraction which can leave a patient needing post surgery painkillers, which again I have not!”

We are delighted to hear that Martin had such a great experience going through this wisdom tooth extraction especially as this is the second time he has had to do it in 3 years. Having everything explained clearly before the procedure is an important part of the process which will ensure the patient is reassured and knows what to expect. It’s amazing that this was all pain-free and that no discomfort was felt after the anaesthetic wore off and no painkillers were needed.
