You have probably visited this page because you either want to try and prevent muscle and ligament injury, or you have suffered a muscle and/or ligament injury. Well you have come to the right place. CAUSES
The causes of muscle and ligament injury are :
- Fatigue
- Over-use of muscles and ligaments
- Improper use of muscles and ligaments

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE AN INJURY
If you have suffered a muscle and/or ligament injury, you are probably experiencing one or both of the following :

- Limited movement within the affected muscle group
- Pain and discomfort

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO PREVENT OR TREAT INJURIES

For the fastest and best remedy for these types of injuries, you will need a sports massage from me. If you are preventing an injury, a sports massage from me will :

- Alleviate tension build up in soft tissue
- Promote flexibility, performance, and range of movement
- Aid relaxation and promotes the well-being of your body, not just your muscles and ligaments

If you have an injury, a sports massage from me will :

- Aid faster healing of the strained muscles and ligaments
- Improve blood and lymphatic circulation, and relaxes the contracted muscles
- Stimulate the stretch reflex in muscles
- Break down scar tissue which was a result of an injury

HOW DOES A SPORTS MASSAGE WORK? There are a variety of massage techniques I use which are specifically aimed at aiding an affected area of the body. Some of these techniques involve :

- kneading
- stroking
- rhythmic tapping, pounding, or patting
- deep pressure and friction. So whether you want to prepare for an event, avoid a repetitive strain injury, or treat an existing injury, contact me today to arrange a consultation. I can either come to you at your home/office or you can have your treatment by me at the Maple Osteopathic Clinic in Bracknell. Thanks for visiting the page and do get in touch with me if you have any further questions. Tracy

DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness)

That post-workout ache you feel 24–72 hours after exercise? That’s DOMS! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

It’s caused by tiny micro-tears in the muscle fibres. While it’s a normal part of training, too much DOMS can slow recovery and affect performance.

βœ… Sports massage increases blood flow, reduces stiffness, and helps you bounce back faster.

πŸ’‘ Self-help: gentle movement (like walking or yoga) can also reduce soreness.

πŸ“… Keep your training on track β€” book your recovery massage

🧠πŸ’ͺ Did you know strength training doesn’t just build muscle β€” it also builds your brain?

Research shows that just two sessions a week for 6 months can:
βœ… Improve memory
βœ… Protect brain health
βœ… Even reverse mild cognitive decline in some older adults

Pair strength training with regular sports massage and you’ve got the ultimate combo for keeping both your body and mind in peak condition:

β€’ Faster recovery
β€’ Reduced injury risk
β€’ Less muscle tension
β€’ More energy for training (and living life!)

✨ Ready to look after your body AND your brain?

Foot Mechanics & Load πŸ‘£πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

🦢 Did you know the way your feet absorb load can affect your whole body?

Each step you take distributes force up through your ankles, knees, hips, and spine. If your foot mechanics are off β€” from flat feet, high arches, or old injuries β€” it can contribute to tension or pain higher up the chain.

πŸ‘‰ Sports massage helps by easing compensatory tightness, improving mobility, and reducing discomfort.

Hydration & Muscle Health

πŸ’§ Did you know hydration plays a big role in how your muscles feel?

When you’re dehydrated, muscles are more prone to cramping, stiffness, and fatigue. Sports massage helps improve circulation and flush out waste products β€” but it works best when your body is well hydrated.

πŸ‘‰ Self-help tip: Aim for steady water intake throughout the day, not just before/after exercise.

πŸ“… Book your sports massage to keep muscles moving freely.

✨ Client Feedback ✨

β€œI’ve suffered with lower back pain for years, which made even simple movements and physio exercises a struggle. After just one massage session, I’ve never felt so free in my back – I can finally move properly and get back to doing what I need to do. Can’t wait for the next one – best decision I ever made!”

Lower back pain is something so many people put up with, but you don’t have to. A tailored sports massage can help reduce tension, restore movement, and support your body to recover. πŸ’†β€β™‚οΈπŸ’ͺ

The Role of Recovery

Rest and recovery are just as important as training. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ

When you exercise, your muscles develop tiny micro-tears. Recovery β€” through sleep, nutrition, hydration, and massage β€” is when repair happens, making muscles stronger.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Try stretching and foam rolling after workouts. Adding massage helps your body reset on a deeper level.

πŸ’‘ Myth vs Fact

Myth: β€œMassage flushes lactic acid out of your muscles.”

Fact: Your body naturally clears lactic acid on its own within about an hour after exercise.

πŸ‘‰ What massage does do is reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, and speed up recovery β€” which means you feel less stiff and move better.

Science wins πŸ’ͺ
