✨Sports Massage review ✨

I’m always asked by clients if I have someone to massage me. And the answer is yes!

Yesterday evening I booked myself in with Jade, our incredible Sports Massage Therapist. Am I an athlete?….NO 😆 definitely not. But my job is physical and to be able to sustain that I have to be very present in my body and really listen to the unhappy bits.

Sports massage isn’t really my go to, if I’m honest. But at the moment my shoulders are feeling tight and sore and I was getting referred pain down into my triceps, making work uncomfortable.

I probably put it off a little longer than I should have (we can all be guilty of that, life’s busy fitting in self care can be tricky 🥴). I knew I needed something a little more targeted and specific to help my body, which was why I chose to work with Jade this time.

She did not disappoint! I think one of the best things about Jade is the way she systematically goes through your body like a detective solving a riddle. Looking at how different areas affect and connect to different areas of tension. You can tell she absolutely loves her work and puts in so much enthusiasm and passion into a session.

Was it painful?… Yes a little 😆 but Jade is an exceptional communicator and at no point did I feel it was too much. I felt completely heard and part of the process.

Sports massage is very much a process and I’ve already booked in for another session. It’s unrealistic to expect any therapist to undo 12years (how long I’ve been working as a massage therapist) of tension in an hour. But the benefits I felt after just one session were remarkable!!

I would absolutely recommend Jade for sports massage and you can book in with her on Thursday and Friday evenings. So maybe skip the gym one evening after work and pay her a visit your muscles and body will absolutely thank you!!

Looking to relieve muscle tension and enhance recovery? Try this effective trigger point release technique, where the power of your breath works alongside your body to promote deep relaxation and release tension!

Breathing deeply engages the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps to calm your body and mind. By focusing on your breath, you can reduce stress, lower your heart rate, and increase oxygen flow to your muscles, allowing them to relax more effectively. This creates an optimal environment for releasing tension.

Here’s How to Do It:
1. Find Your Trigger Point: Identify tight knots in your muscles, often located in areas like your shoulders, hips, or thighs.
2. Prepare Your Ball: Take a tennis ball or massage ball and place it inside a clean sports sock. Tie a knot at the end to secure the ball. Using a sock gives you better control over the pressure and target area during your massage.
3. Position Your Sock Ball: Hold the sock with the ball against the wall or floor, aiming for the tight area you want to release.
4. Apply Gentle Pressure: Lean into the sock ball slowly until you feel a moderate level of discomfort (it should never be painful).
5. Breathe Deeply: As you apply pressure, focus on your breathing. Inhale deeply through your nose, expanding your diaphragm fully. Hold for a moment, then exhale slowly through your mouth, visualizing the tension melting away. Repeat this for 3-5 breaths, or until you feel the tension eased, enhancing muscle relaxation with each exhale.
6. Small Movements: After a few deep breaths, gently roll the sock ball side to side or up and down to massage the area more thoroughly.
7. Switch Sides: Don’t forget to repeat the process on the opposite side if necessary.
8. Finish with Stretching: After the release, incorporate gentle stretches for the targeted area to improve flexibility and further relax your muscles.
