This weekend marks the start of our 2025 Light up a Life services, starting with our Winsley service on Sunday 23 November.
Taking place at the Hospice from 3pm, we’ll be welcoming our supporters to our stunning grounds for a special service of reflection and remembrance, as well as the lighting of our Christmas tree.
Our Bath Abbey service will then take place on Tuesday 25 November at 7pm. For those who are unable to attend, this service will be live-streamed so you can watch from home, and we’ll provide the link to this nearer the time.
We look forward to welcoming you to one of these very special evenings 🌟

Could your business support our Christmas Tree Collection happening from 9-11 January 2026? Whether you can give a few hours or multiple days and whether you have access to a van or not, we need you! In January, we collected almost 6,000 trees, so every single volunteer makes a huge difference - Bison Waste Bath were one of the fantastic local businesses that supported us earlier this year, and here's Will to tell us more about what volunteering involves!
Sign up as an individual or get together with your colleagues – it's up to you! Simply complete this form and we’ll be in touch with more information: https://okt.to/Q03XK1

Thank you to all involved at the Midsomer Norton Choir Fest which took place back in October!
In a bid to looking to share experiences and music in the wider community and to encourage new members, the organisers invited a range of choirs to perform, from out of school club groups through the ages, showcasing eight fabulous choirs in just 2 hours. Our lovely volunteer Jackie from our Midsomer Norton shop attended to give a talk about the work of Dorothy House, and to accept the fundraising cheque at the end of the performance - in total, the event raised an amazing £1,350!

“If you want dignity for people, if you want dignity for yourself, please support Dorothy House this Light Up a Life.”
As part of our 2025 Light Up a Life Appeal, we've been sharing Bill's story.
Bill and Val had been together for 52 years when Val was diagnosed with lung cancer. Dorothy House supported Val and their family from the very beginning of her diagnosis, through to the last days of her life.
We know that as we approach the festive season, it can be a difficult time for those who are at reaching the end of their life, or for those who have lost someone important to them. At this time of year especially, Light up a Life offers a beacon of hope and healing for many.
There's still time to sponsor a light in memory of a loved one on our beautiful Christmas tree at the Hospice in Winsley. Not only is each dedication a beautiful tribute to someone we love, but it is also a gift that helps others, ensuring that people across our region continue to receive personalised end of life care, dignity and support.
If you’re affected by a life-limiting illness and looking for a friendly space to connect with others in a similar situation, our Coffee Connection sessions are for you.
Coffee Connections are our weekly community groups open to anyone affected by life-limiting illness or associated bereavement. Whether you’re caring for someone, living with an illness yourself, or have lost someone, you’re welcome to join us. All sessions are free to attend and there’s no need to pre-book a place.
We have sessions running in Chippenham, Frome, Keynsham, Winsley, and online via Zoom, and we've recently started a new group in Trowbridge!
For more information, visit our website and search ‘Coffee Connection.’

"I have a plan for when I pass away. I know what songs I want at my funeral. I know where I want to be buried. I think that's a sensible thing to have."
How refreshing it was to see the one and only Ed Sheeran talking so openly about his death and legacy on last week's episode of The Graham Norton Show, including his plans for a posthumous album.
Talking about what we want when we die isn't morbid - it's sensible, and will make things easier for our loved ones when the time comes. If Ed Sheeran is willing to chat about it on national TV, that's a lesson for all of us!
Check out our range of end of life planning resources over on our website - search 'planning ahead.'
Ed Sheeran has plans to release a posthumous album which will be called ‘Eject’. us here:Facebook: https://ww...

Today brings a time for us to remember the Armed Forces, and their families, from Britain and the Commonwealth, the vital role played by the emergency services and those who have lost their lives, or health and wellbeing, as a result of conflict or terrorism.
Today at 11am, we'll be taking the time to remember the service, sacrifice, bravery and courage of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.

Dorothy House Hospice Care was set up in 1976, based at the Bath home of its founder Prue Dufour, A woman of vision, determination and deep faith, she saw a need for care of terminally ill patients in their community, rather than in hospital.
Over the years Dorothy House has grown to reflect the changing needs of palliative care, and we now provide our services to a population of 550,000 over 700sq miles. From the hospice’s beginning to the current day our purpose has remained the same, to provide compassionate care to our community to enable those with a life-limiting illness to live well and die well.
