📚Stories have a powerful way of helping us remember, reflect, and stay connected to the people who have shaped our lives.

On World Book Day, we’re honouring the books that bring comfort, spark memories, and help us navigate life’s most meaningful moments. Whether it’s a treasured favourite passed down through generations or a story that offered solace when you needed it most - today is a reminder of how words can stay with us long after the final page.

In Loving Memory of Layzare Patrick Delsaint, known to many as Patrick, he was a beloved family man and a friend to many.

Born in Pichelin Roseau in Dominica, Patrick's journey took him to Bradford in 1961, where he settled making new roots.

Patrick was a sociable character and a man who worked hard covering 12 hour shifts 6-7 days a week to provide for his loved ones. Patrick worked for many years at Woolcombers until redundancy and moved on to Drummond School until he reached retirement.

Patrick was a strict yet devoted father to his children Aven, Avanelle, Steven, Hellen, Wayne, Trisha, Shannene & Shauna.

Patrick was blessed further by becoming a Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, Patrick always remained a pillar of strength and love for his family.

He also cherished his gardening, tropical fish, horse racing and could never say no to a game of dominoes bringing out the competitive side in him, hence his fabulous collection of trophies.

Patrick was the most genuine, honest and kind man that you could ever meet and his spirit, passion, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Family flowers only please, however if you wish to make a donation in the memory of Patrick it will be for the benefit of Mary Seacole Social Fund and Aged UK.

🎉🏆 WE’VE BEEN NOMINATED – AND WE’RE SO HONOURED! 🏆🎉

We are incredibly proud to share that D Walsh & Son have been nominated for not just one, but TWO categories at the Yorkshire Choice Awards 2026:

✨ Customer Service Award
✨ Independent Business of the Year

This means so much to us, because these nominations recognise how we care for families — not just what we do. Being trusted to support people at one of the most difficult times in their lives is something we never take for granted. It is truly an honour to guide families with compassion, dignity, and understanding, while helping to create the most personal and meaningful farewell possible for their loved ones.

Every conversation, every detail, and every service we provide is done with genuine care and pride. We believe in listening, supporting, and being there when it matters most — and we are so grateful to everyone who has placed their trust in us. 💛

If you have been supported by us, worked with us, or believe in people-centred businesses that care deeply about what they do, we would be so grateful for your support. Voting closes on 1st March

❤️ A reminder for this week:
Grief and love often sit side by side - and however you’re feeling, you’re not alone. Take your time, be gentle with yourself, and know that support is always within reach.
